I'm sure I've seen these mentioned on here before but can't seem to find the thread, for those that don't know taylormade claim these are designed typically for mid handicap players to give extra spin into greens, does anyone play these or know how they perform??

Rooter posted a really interesting couple of links about them. PM him if he does not see this.

I have tried 1 ball for 1 round and have 2 to try first impression were there ok but I have used better will see how another 1 goes on Saturday am.

Alex is right! see below:

I always wanted to test these, then i read the below to blogs, I have since got some and so far only played practice with wedges and putter, so far so very good!!!

Have a read, of the below. Basically a PGA pro does a premium ball shoot out, but adds in a mid price one. his words, "The ball that should change the market forever" I am seriously impressed with it. So much so, i have a sleeve of TP X balls i am not even bothering to open yet!

Thanks pal I've seen the links previously but good to hear from someone who's actually used them see clubhouse golf have got them for around £28 so may have to try some

Kraxx uses these all the time and really loves them.

I tried one on one hit and it felt really really soft of the face. Seemed like a decent ball, though at £33 quid ish a dozen I'll stick with the Mizuno D201's

If your going to pay £28 for them stop the pro v1 sale and use those with £2.50 postage almost the same cost!

This was going to be my next point are these better for a mid handicapper than a pro v 1? I don't mean to start off world war 3 like what usually happens when someone mentions mid handicappers using pro v 1s but seriously which do you think would be better?

Titleist would tell you that the Pro V or Pro V x would be the best ball around the green for golfers of all abilities. I would use the Pro Vs rather than selling for the TMs.

Would be interesting to see how these compare to the AD333 tour.

Dose appear to be a shift for manufactures pushing the mid range ball market

There does, but the price point is not good enough as you can buy "older" premium balls at the same price. That said it also makes balls like the Titleist NXT Tour useless as its not as soft as the AD 333 Tour, TM Project a or Bridgestone RX, is the same price as them so has not market imo.

I suppose the value must be taken into account. As I've mentioned before, I would be very surprised if many amateurs could truly tell the difference in a blind test between balls once you are paying over 30 notes for them.

But a lot is in the mind, and if you think that ProV1s will give you a better flight, feel softer or check better than chances are there is more chance you will play the shots to make this happen. But I'd bet the ball actually makes little difference with the striking consistency most amateurs make, and if you hit the same shot with a Z Star or TM Lethal or Bridgestone RX exactly the same would happen. But if the ball is making you feel more confident then go for it. As long as you can afford it. But remember, most of it is in the mind.;)

But the NXT Tour S is soft.

Same as Alex says use the prov 1's for me. Try a sleeve at least if you still feel uncomfortable you can always move on the 9 left?

At £28 you can at times get current models too. Albeit in bigger quanties I paid £106 for 4 dozen prov's with personilsed printing on.

I found a project A, after the Nigerian golf society had played my course. It was suitably decorated in Nigerian colours. I liked it. It was fine. For 8 holes. They don't come out of the trees well. That would be my comment. Prov1 normally bounce back out. It's what you pay the money for.

Good video, but I am not quite sure why he couldn't name the premium balls. Especially when he hinted that the spinniest ball was not the Pro V1

i believe he was under contract at the time of the first test. hence the result of the project A being a surprise package did not come out until about 6 weeks after the test.

I'm not sure why people are so desperate for more spin. Most amateurs can't control it and very rarely benefit from it. Personally I don't want a ball that stops dead or zips back. Something that spins enough to stop the ball on the green a couple of yards from where it lands is good enough for me.
