So last Monday, things at last came together - must be the sunshine - and managed to card a 92 - even with 2 8s and a 7 on the card - into the score box and down comes the handicap from 26.9 to 24.5. At last, I can look people in the eye after wrestling with consistency issues all last year.

So went out again this Monday, hoping not to go into reverse. This time score 88, (woohoo) including 2 8s (again), but luckily had 8 pars. Card in - let's see what happens at handicap review on Thursday.

First time below 90 ever. Driving OK, but nothing special, but irons and wedges just going where I imagined the shot. Fortunately I have a limited imagination and therefore try not to overextend!

I'm going to lie down now.

fair play and well done braking 90 is a milestone, next stop 85, then 80. Just try not to think about the card and enjoy playing. its amazing how quick the scores drop when your relaxed and dressed with a smile.

While im against handicap protection, i wouldnt also rush to get every card in. I hit a purple patch last year when i didnt have an offical hc, breaking 80 on a regular basis in bounce games, yet as soon as it mattered scores crept back to mid 80's. not saying this is what is happening with you, but it gets discouraging when your scores go the other way and you cant control it.

Well played mate, nice to break the 90.

Dont get disheartened if you slip a couple back again as you will find that overall your average will be a step down.

Turn a couple of 8's into 7's and you are well on your way.

Recently seen this myself - a few in the high eighties and a few in the low ninties. Trying to get to the 85 mark now

well done.

I'm still chasing that elusive sub-90 round, 91 again this weekend.
Can't stop thinking about the 9 shots on a par 5 (16th)
(bad luck :D a slightly off line drive caught the trees, tried to do the sensible thing & chip out, rolled back in right up to a tree trunk, two hacks to get the thing shifting, so i've had 5 before actually getting moving!) recovered well though with bogey & par on last 2 holes.)

or about at least 2 putts that were left half inch short....
or about the 5 iron that bounced off at right angles down into a ditch..
etc etc

I do accept that after a round in the 80's there'll be a few in the 90's in the same way that after breaking 100 there were still a few 3 figure rounds!

just want that eighty something round.. maybe friday!

Well played that man.

Congratulations, always nice to break through a golfing "barrier" for the first time.

Hopefully the first of many for you.
