I just purchased a job lot of mixed pearl grade used balls. All Pro V1 and Pro V1x. Will I notice the difference and in what way are they likely to differ?

I only started using Prov1's a month or so ago having previously used NXT tour. But I wanted something that would stop, and I found that. I rarely generate enough spin to come backwards but can get prov1's to stop quick enough.

What will happen with the V1x?

Any help would be appreciated.

The problem with refurbished balls is that a large majority are old lake balls and sadly being submerged will have an impact on their playability and no two balls will react the same. I think from memory the Pro V1x are for quicker swing speeds and have a firmer feel

Pro V 1X's are slightly harder, which in turn requires a higher swing speed to compress them to get optimal spin and distance out of them.

The Pro V1's are slightly softer and don't require as a high a swing speed to get optimal performance out of them.

I think anyway!

My personal experience with both balls is

The pro v1 flys a bit higher, stops really quickly a bit too much when on lush greens and has a buttery feel off all the clubs esp the putter

The pro v1x flys lower with all clubs and is a nice ball to play with in the wind,a much more crisper feel round the green but still with loads of stopping power unless i play really firm links greens

If you dont get through the ball that well you could lose a bit of distance with the pro v1x and they might feel a bit harder

Enjoy testing out your new balls

pro v1x (old and new) are recommended for swing speeds in excess of 105. if you can't achieve that you won't compress the ball sufficiently and will lose distance in comparison to a ball you can compress.

I've been playing with V1's for a few months now.

I found a V1x a couple of weeks ago, and there was no-one around me so I hit both balls off the next tee.
The x sounded pingier (I think I just made a new word up :o) and both felt like good hits but there was nothing in the distance between them so I guess I don't hit hard enough to make the x work.
My driver was measured at 107 at a club fitting.

I think the only time I'd use them is to lose a bit of spin when the greens are wet and slow, especially the back to front sloped ones.

As far as I'm concerned most of us are going to be unable to tell the difference. Unless you're a pretty good player the difference will be so small that most of us won't notice.

I find the x's don't slice quite as much, and are a bit firmer off the putter. I like them, but if the ground is hard, I prefer the 1's to the x's.

If your swing speed is 107, you are hitting it hard enough. That is fast.
