Morning all,

I'm looking at joining a club in the North Liverpool area - just wanting to know any decent suggestions.

I've been a member of aintree before, but that's just a 9 hole course with very little on the social side etc. Looking at a few websites I am thinking Mossock Hall might be a good choice - and it's close too.

Any others, or any comments on Mossock?

Cheers.

Quite a few members from Lee Park on here mate. They are good guy's and I'm sure they would host you for a game.

I don't mind Mossock but im not a fan of the first 4/5 holes. It also used to be quite expensive compared to other courses in the area.

Cheers mate. Not played Lee Park, but heard good things about it. I actually thought Mossock was pretty reasonable from a cost perspective. About the same as West Derby.

Lol. Cheers Scouse.

I am from the north end so don't know much about the south side of the city. It's only about 25 mins away down the 57 and across so not too bad.

I'll get in touch with them and find out the prices etc.

I take it you enjoy it there and would recommend it?

If it's 25 mins u must be past switch island....

Yeah if you ignore the stuff that comes out of their mouths there ok... U will probably get a courtesy round if u ask

Hi. Been a member at Mossock now for three years. Still enjoying it. Start of season greens were pants but are now boss. Good bunch of lads here and some bytes, like any were. Lots of functions. We have some good days away as well as playing here. I think its good. If you want to play it get in touch.

Lee park is only £10 with a member during the week, after 4.00. You could go around with scouser, you better do it soon though while its still light till 10.00.;)

Stegsie... Truth is play with GaryinDerry that way u will get decent golf and no crap conversation..... Only problem is he is Irish

@Stegsie, Take these guys up on an offer of a round. They're a great bunch who you'll enjoy playing with no end.....Except Scouser, he's a knob of the highest order...;)

I used to be a member at Mossock. The one thing I do remember was that it drained well compared to other courses in the area (excluding the coastal courses). I'm not aware of it being significantly more expensive (although I think Lee Park is doing a deal for new members at the moment?) and it's not a bad course. Members were friendly enough as well. I only left because as soon as the first was born I just wasn't playing enough to justify the outlay. Slowly getting back into it and would consider joining again.

The only negative thing I would say is that they didn't treat the juniors well at all. I'd like to get my son playing when he's bigger and that may put me off. Although there is a different Manager now so that may have changed.

Cheers for all the comments. I will take the lads up on their respective offers of a round.

I'll get in touch with Mossock and Lee Park in the morning and see what prices they are offering at the moment for new members. Eccleston Park seems a decent track too - but again I've not played there.

West Derby and Childwall I really enjoyed last time I played them - just looking for a few more options. I loved Formby Hall too - but very expensive indeed that one!

If you are prepared to travel as far as Eccleston then take a look at Blundells Hill. Nice course and much better than Eccleston which wasn't very good last time I played there; however it was a few years back.

I live not far from Mossack Hall and played there a few months back. I thought the course was ok (it was very early season) but i wasn't overly enamoured by the welcome in the pro shop given that I had suggested that i was a prospective member.
Eccleston Park is ok. Good value for money. I don't like the pylon running through it though. If you out that way try Houghwood. I am due to play it in the next week or so, but ive heard great things about it. Other than that, if you want value for money, the North West National on the Rainford bypass is on its way up. Not sure about the social side there yet though!

ps, don't play Scouser for money.... (or biscuits) ;)

We all can't be wrong can we scouser.....

Stegsie, Lee park is ok some cracking lads there and the clubhouse is sound and the course is decent aswell. The running of the club lets it down though.

I'd look at huyton and prescot golf club, much better course with more thinking required.

Its only a par 68 but its tougher than it looks.

West derby is sound but it doesn't drain very well so any large amounts of rainfall and its shut. If you fancy a knock give us a shout.

Swerve playing with scouser for your own safety :)

Cheers all.

Think I need to get out and have a knock on a few of these places. Just been in touch with Eccleston Park and they have a cracking deal on membership at the moment.

West Derby is a decent course, and I've played there quite a bit. Drainage is a problem though. There are even videos of it on youtube being closed etc. Not ideal in the summers we've had of late!

Houghwood is amazing - played a society do there a while back. I've not even asked about membership there as I presume it's very expensive.

I've heard mixed reports on the North West National. Didn't it have loads of problems a while ago when it opened up?

Mossock is closest to me, and the social side seems spot on
