Just back from a two day trip at Princes GC. mid march 2015.

Stayed at the Lodge, which is their onsite accomodation, and played the afternoon we arrived and all day following.

We had a march 'special' which gave us all the golf listed, plus B and B accommodation in the lodge for £145.

The course is great. I have seen pictures of it, and thought that even for a links course it looked a little flat. No need to worry though, although the fairways and greens lack some of the dune scenery you get at RSG and saunton, there is still plenty of linksy topography going on. There was some course work going on (one of the perils of this time of year), but the fairways and greens were in good nick. Bunkers were the normal links fare, but we seemed to miss most of them, so maybe they are placed for better golfers. One of the benefits of playing early in the year is that the rough was not horribly penal, and between the two of us we only lost one ball in over 100 holes. Apparently it gets a bit knarly in the summer...

Having three loops of nine is a real bonus for a short trip, as it adds to the variety.

Lodge accommodation was fine - very new and clean with fantastic showers. The bar was fine, and was 'a little pricey' rather than 'compete rip off'. Food was also fine, without being extraordinary.

All the staff in the Lodge and clubhouse were friendly and welcoming.

I'm slightly worried that the great weather we had (lightish chilly northerly with mostly blue skies) meant that we got a slightly unrepresentative view of how much fun links golf can be. It was fantastic ! Maybe a bit harder in a brisk gale...

All-in-all we were really pleased with the trip and would heartily recommend it.
