I ordered a book from Amazon.co.uk last Saturday (23rd) and it still hasn't arrived, that's exactly 1 week to deliver a book, and waiting.

I was tracking the order and apparently it was dispached Monday 25th, either that's a total fabrication or the Post Office has secretly been on strike!

Terrible service, probably won't be using Amazon again in a hurry.

If you've got a dispatch date doesn't that put the blame firmly with the PO ?

I've never had a problem when I've used amazon for books, or golf bags for that matter.

I have always found them to be pretty good for delivery and they constantly have great prices as well. May be just a one off.

Very unusual James.
I've been using Amazon for ages and have never (never) had a problem with delivery. Everything has always turned up promptly, and always before their estimated delivery date.

Just a little tip....a delivery guy once told me never to pay for postage from Amazon, always pick the "free supersaver delivery" option. Apparantly, when parcels are collected from them, no priority is placed on anything so they all get delivered together anyway. Don't know how true this is but I've had stuff turn up within two days of ordering using their free delivery option... ;) ;)

Oh please - to be blunt 'get a life'....

Was it that desperate - probably no. For the 1% of packages that Amazon send and get lost/mislaid, probably by Royal Mail, which is the most likely answer, you have been unlucky...

If it was that desperate, there are a number of shops that have the words 'book shop' above their doors...

Agree and also the same goes for other online retailers like Ebuyer. However don't try this trick with Dabs.com Their supersaver really does take ages.

Use Amazon often. never a problem
Suggest you get amazon to track down your stuff

Fragger

never had a problem and ive ordered loads of the stuff over the years, sometimes take longer if the goods are from an outside source, coincidentally when i ordered my dr bob rotella books from amazon the delivery date was over a week away, they came when it said they would but they were from a different company, amazon must be a middle man of sorts. usually goods get delivered 2 to 3 days after order and i always do the super saver free delivery,on a couple of occasions ive had deliveries next day

So, you instantly blame Amazon and badmouth them on a public forum. Do you think Amazon are lying to you? Is it not much more likely that it is the Post Office whio have screwed up? The PO have a long history of being crap. Amazon, as testified to by others on here and my long experience of dealing with them, are a fantastic company whose customer care and service is excellent.

Yep, delivering on your promise is an integral part of running a business. If the PO isn't up to the task then they should find an alternative... or create one.

You're talking to the wrong person when it come to customer service - I hate bad service!

I've just been clearing out theloft and come across my daughter's old pre-school books.

Was it 'Janet and John' Book 2 or 3 you wanted ?

:p

It was a Ladybird book - "How to win the Masters".

In my opinion each package dispached by Amazon should have a barcode that gets scanned as it gets dropped through your door - mine wouldn't have been scanned yet so Amazon should KNOW that there is a problem and be emailing ME telling me what they are doing about it, not the other way round.

In fact I think all post should be handled this way.

There, that's sorted the postal service.... NEXT!

I use Amazon a lot and find their delivery to be pretty good. But they do not run the PO.

The OP had the option to pay for a premium, guaranteed deliver service, but didn't want to pay any extra.

Nobody to blame but the PO and himself. Not Amazon's fault.

Like other posters, find Amazon second to none.

Have you told them it hasn't been received? If not how can you expect them to take any action.
Yes,they are very good, but not good enough to know you have received it or not.

As A postie,we can only deliver what comes into the sorting office,if it doesn't arrive, has it been sent by Amazon ???
Yes,very easy to blame Royal Mail.

I have no problem with Amazon even at peak times like Christmas. To be honest most of the stuff I buy I'm happy to wait for so always opt for the free postage option. A lot of the time its still there within 2-3 days so I'm more than happy. If it was that urgent pay for the quicker postage. The problem is clearly not with Amazon but the Post Office

I, or should I say my wife uses amazon a lot and I find them brilliant so far.
Never been a delivery problem, never a defect of any kind.
They should change their name to Carlsberg.........probably.

Never had a problem with Amazon, recently bought something from a 'seller' without realising and had loads of problems with it. Didn't arrive the seller ignored emails and telephones calls.

Complained via Amazon and had money back in next to no time.
