Some of you may know, I'm doing the Longest Day Challenge this year (in exactly 52 days!), and I was wondering about how those who have done this in the past prepared themselves, not just on the day of the challenge itself, but also during the build-up?

Currently, I'm trying to walk as much as possible every day and playing 2-3 times a week (or hitting the range if I can't get to the course) even if its just a quick 9.

Any advice from those Longest Day veterans that I should take heed of?

Plenty of bananas and fluids. A change of clothes especially socks and shoes if possible at half time. I'm not overly fit but have managed it twice (carrying both times) without any specific or additional training

I've done it and it's a good laugh as long as you like your playing partners. As above, stocks of good and drink is a must.

Depending on the weather I'd also ensure some talc is on hand as Golfer's Bumhole can make rounds 3 & 4 a mission....

Done this a couple of times, it's a great thing and can be fun longs you all get on. Best thing to do is to get all of you together and play a few 36 holes games in a day on the course you are going to play. Workout how long it takes and if you can fit in a break. If you then get the chance try 54 holes. Just to prepare yourself and how you all hold up as you get tired. We tee off early played 2rounds the had a 30min break changed our socks t-shirts so felt fresh for the last 2 rounds. Also try to get as many ppl to come to walk round with you for the last round at least, you will be surprised having fresh happy ppl is a massive pick me up..
Have fun enjoy and play well.. Plenty of water and energy bars/chocolate to boot.
