Our Club Pro told me yesterday he caddied for one of the Scottish seniors, whose name escapes me, when the senior British Open was at Royal Aberdeen 2 or 3 years ago.
Anyway he got chatting with Tom Kite who was in their group one day and was asking him how he and other seniors manage to keep fit and healthy on the playing schedules they keep, taking them all over the world, well into their 50's.
When asked about the effects of jetlag in particular Kite told him that's no problem, saying "I start sleeping on UK time 1 week before I come over. That means going to bed at 5pm and getting up at 3am at home in the US for 7 days just to be totally ready for the tournament here in the UK".
That is some level of dedication I thought after 3 decades or more of the same thing. They must enjoy top level golf so much to want to keep doing that.
Lucky sods!
