That said, I really need to start using one. I've got one for putting, and at the moment I just can't stop holing putts. Holed a 15' downhiller to keep my paring 3 up in a comp, and then holed a 10' to get what I thought would be a half, but the oppo missed, so it won us the match. They had made fun of me earlier in the round, but had to admit it worked, having lost to us 4&3.
The actual "routine" doesn't appear to be that much at all. Essentially just put the bag in the same place every time, assess the lie, yardage, to choose a club (don't we all do that), take the same number of practice swings everytime take a few looks and hit it. What am I missing here?
This image makes me feel sad inside. Not for anything other than it can't be fun reading that every shot. I play golf for enjoyment, I think that would kill the buzz for me!
I don't have a problem with someone writing down their pre shot routine, if that is what it takes to embed it so that after a short while you don't think about it or even realise that you do it.
I just hope they get on with playing their shot and don't faff around checking they have ticked all the boxes.
