Anyone else suffer with this? I played at clitheroe on Saturday and thought I'd go a little early and use the range they have to get warmed up and hit some balls. Out of 60 balls I'd be surprised if I hit 10 cleanly or straight! Tops/shanks you name it it happened (even with little 30 yard chips shots!)
Anyway on the course nothing, a few pulls but no shanks or duffs! Crazy!

Never had it turn on and off like that, bet you stood on the first wondering what the hell was going to happen?!

Yep, my pre-round warm up is a mixture of thins, shanks, tops....you name it! Club Champs last weekend and if you'd watch my bucket of balls before the round you'd have got very short odds on an early NR or a cricket score had I gone the distance. As it was a 5 under par 62 gave me the overnight lead!

Love it!

The last few years i havn't hit any balls pre round or as practice full stop due to hitting loads of shermans.

Hardly ever used to do it on the course apart from the odd one.

I used to think our practice ground was infected with Shermans;)

I've had it, but I don't class this as suffering...

Im just glad I can get through the round without them - its funny as I know when this has happened I have no pressure on myself and just smile knowing the ball is going forward!

Not a great feeling though mate is it.

Yes I tend to hit most of my shanks in Bounce games and on the range. My bounce game performances have been stinking recently, I'n guessing I'm rushing or just not concentrating!

Although one managed to sneak into my medal last Saturday am, Started, Par, Birdie, Par. SHANK, Sclaff, chop, splash, drop, chip putt putt! for a Quadruple bogey! Played well from then on and even got a wee cut.

I find it best to just laugh it off on the course, my playing partner looked more distressed than I did!!

I have just/am just clearing 3 weeks of shanks out of my repertoire, to say it was distressing is a huge understatement, specially as I could not see my pro for 3 weeks so just played though them. I was hitting maybe 15 or more a round and losing maybe 7 balls per round. It sinks your mind like a bombed ship but I did keep a smile on my face even though I was crying inside. It got so bad that in one practice session I hit 30 in a row with no good shot in the middle. See attached photo for part of the reason, but suffer, ye I really suffered!! Damn well wish it had just been on the practice ground!

did this at preston when playing our OOM round. greg very kindly got us a load of range balls. I hit umpteen shanks, a load of hooks then got out and played quite well on the course.

I tend to do it quite often on range mats. :o
