Hi there all
Played my first "competitive" event of the year on Friday. As my handicap as now
Lapsed, I could say I play off anything, but I'm honest and played off 2. It was a charity golf day at Great Barr Golf Club. I drew a bit off attention with my handicap, as I was the only single figure golf playing out of 85 blokes, so being first off with everyone there meant I had an unexpected gallery on the first.
thankfull my new Nike SQ460 (07 model) didn't let me down, and I picked it up for 40 notes, complete steal!!. I was -1 at the turn, then as the wind and heat picked up, going into a tough back 9 , I shot +2 coming for a one over 73 (37sford pts) 37 was good enough for 4th overall and was rea
Ly pleased. Only dodge one was longest drive. It was on a 450yd par 4, downhill and into a stiff breeze. I munched one down there at 287 (according to gps) and then in last group, a 16hcp, who hit 31pts , apparently, hit it about 50yrds past mine (so or I'm told). I took it fine, but my playing partners were head scratching lol. In total, 14k was raised for Acorns and that's the main reason for it so were we're all dead chuffed, and the after dinner speaker, Steve Daley (his 1.5m move to man city in 1979 was voted the biggest waste of money in transfer history) was simply brilliant.
If anyone on here played, then well done to you and a great day was had by all. And any members of a great Barr should be proud of the course they have.
rich.
