On holiday in sunny Cornwall in a cottage overlooking the 17th green of Porthpean Golf Club which in turn overlooks the sea - perfect!

Played this afternoon at 1pm and as we set off there was a guy on the short practice hole hitting lob shots from about 40 yards. When we'd played 18 he was still there and we chatted as a couple of balls were on the fairway. He was suffering from a bout of unmentionables and said he was running out of pros in St Austell to fix it. We chatted a while and left him to carry on.

I walked Max at 6pm and he was still out there hitting balls. It's now 8pm and the footie is about to start and he's STILL out there!

Now I love to practice and know it hones the skills but this guy makes me look lazy. Have to wonder if he's working it out or not though!

Quality not quantity surely. Even if he's going through the you know what's, it wouldn't take that length of time and balls to get it right. I'm renowned for loving a practice session but even I wouldn't spend that long!

Hmm I love practice too but that does seem a tad long. A couple of hours would do me at the most and I would have to hit a variety of shots from a range of distances. Probably broken up with a trip to the putting green.

Agreed. It has to be way to long to be effective. At one stage he swung his driver at a tee peg over and over again...obsessed!!

That's some obsessive practice!

My society members were taking the mickey this morning when I was on the range at 8am before our game!

I won by 5 clear points;)

practice makes permanent not perfect:whistle:

That's my thinking as he had some weird loop thing going on at the top of his backswing and then noticed him working on getting flatter and flatter. Hope he's not back today as I have dibs on that practice hole - only for an hour though!

I've been away for a bit but it looks like your own practice is paying off, handicap tumbling I see!

Just noticed this. 6.1 eh ? , have you been keeping it quiet or did i just miss the posts , thats great going Amanda , fair play .

Re the guy practicing , its a bit OTT but if in his mind he needs to do that i guess he has to try at least

Well I did blow my own trumpet about getting to single figures but the jump to 6 just scared me

I've just spent an hour or so out there and what an amazing setting overlooking the sea. Back is killing me so how the heck he did 7 hours is beyond me!
