Powakaddy gearbox

My Powakaddy has a wire going to the gearbox. What’s this for?

No experience of this

If the battery can be charged in situ it may some sort of drive inhibit switch inside the gearbox
Some sort of detector if the trolley is going backwards to cut out any drive to the motor.
A braking switch.

Some have a hill decent feature it might be that, like a Range Rover 4wd.
Never seen one though
