It’s been a dismal year for IP, was looking for better things from him to be honest. 2009 from 17 starts he had 5 top tens and a dozen top 25s. This year from 16 starts, one top ten and 4 top 25s. The funny thing is, his scoring average has hardly changed, but with a 2.4 million purse down to 750k this year that’s got to be a worry for the second best player in the world.

I would agree with you Tommo. That's quite a down turn in winnings!

He must be raking it in from his IJP design clothes company and making a desent living that way :D

To much time Tweeting and not enough practicing (That was tongue in cheek BTW)

I like Poults, I don't know why. He's a bit arrogant and cocky, but seems like a nice bloke. Would like to see him string a few good comps together.

I think he must make a lot of money from IJP Design, hes already took £200 off me and more than likely a few more with the ltd edition polo's.. plus he plays in a lot of the asian tours where its big money even if you dont finish highly..

Another golfer who has set himself very high goals and standards. Poults in my opinion on his day can live with anyone. Read his article this month in GW and he offers some lame excuses however he is hitting the gym to get fitter for next season.

Big season next year, just like it will be for Casey and Gmac. Could be interesting.

I like a lot of what Poulter is about and certainly in one on one matchplay there is probably no tougher opponent to grind down and beat. However as strokeplay is the cash cow he has certainly gone backwards and I wonder if he hasn't begun to believe his own hype too much

As stated he seems to have a lot going on off the course. I think he is an extremely astute businessman, whether it is him of his management he really has used his golf as a springboard to bigger earnings.
I commend him on that element.I enjoy watching Ian, he probably needs a Ryder cup qualifying year to get the best out of himself.
I hope he plays good golf next year as he is certainly a personaility.

Poulter WR 28, Tiger WR 56 - if you'd offered him half Tiger's WR he would have snatched your hand off back then!

I like Poulter but he seems to be better suited to matchplay than strokeplay. His cockiness/confidence is perfect for the head to head competition, he seems to thrive on direct competition. In a strokeplay event I wonder whether he struggles to find the same competitive edge when he doesn't have one other person to compete directly against.

Just a thought - hope he gets back to winning ways though, seems like a decent bloke
