For those that know the course and for those that have played there.....I think it's one of the finest pay and play courses in my area.

The good news is that in the very near future they'll be offering membership!

Whoop! :whoo:

Have the local council sold it on then ?

Not a bad course with some nice holes, always thought the 18th was a nice closing hole.

No, a trust has taken over the running of the councils leisure facilities (I don't know the ins and outs) and they're looking at changing things slightly. I've been told the pay and play element will still live on (full details will be released after the AGM in a couple of days time)....so I'll be eager to see how the membership would work with priority tee times etc

Poult Wood is the course I learned to play on as a kid....is it massively challenging or long? nope. But it is extremely well maintained with holes 2, 6, 9, 10, 16 and 18 being the ones that stand out for me.

The bonus for me is that is approx. 8 minutes drive from home and will be great for the older guys who make up my normal 4 ball as my current club is a bit much for them.

I played it a few years ago and agree that for a p&p course it was pretty good. A bit open for my liking as a member course but would certainly play it again.

Some of the middle holes are wide open Chris, but the first few and the finishing stretch are a bit tight I think (it's been a few years), and as others have said the 18th is a very nice finishing hole, especially with an audience.

Was a member of the club attached to the course for 27 years..... :)

It can be an excellent Spring and Autumn course (the clay base makes it poor most winters and almost impossible in dry summers) but despite it's short length and good greens it isn't easy to destroy.

The club had an excellent relationship with T&M Leisure Services so it will be interesting to see what's happening with this change - I have an inkling I know what's driven this, but no doubt things will become clear. Interesting times.
