It's been my first year on the forum and I've loved every minute of it, I've read some great stuff from serious instruction to hilarious jokes but who is your poster/forumer of the year? I thought hard about this one but for outright humour I'm giving my award to...Drum roll..Smiffy! that is one guy I'd love to meet one day. Well done Smiffy, Drawboys poster of the year. Who are you going to choose.
 
You are only going to be disappointed.

Actually, no, Smiffy is a great bloke. Blind as Magoo, but then you can't have everything. Great poster, great fun, useless golfer (without JustOneUK to line up his putts).

Other mentions have to go to Leftie, HTL, JustOneUK, who are all great guys to play with. Perm any 3 from 4 (incl. the smiffster), and you have my ideal forum 4 ball.

And I guess I have to mention the scottish contingent, Madandra, John_Findlay, Toad, Dodger, SS2, DCB and the rest, who made Goswick so much fun. And IM02 for the golf lesson. Thanks. Now I know I'm crap.

And also the GM guys. Always a pleasure to play with any of them.
 
I couldnt pick just one as it wouldnt be fair on the rest....Smiffy,Homer,Murphthemog,Bobmac,Justoneuk,Drawboy,thecraw,dodger.
I could keep going and im sorry if iv left anyone out.. ;)

PERSON of the year for me has to be Smiffy, I joined the forum looking for some banter and a few days out and found a friend (even though he's a knob)

For me POSTER of the year has to be Homergate, um, I mean Homer :) To go through that incident and still be here is a testament to his love of the forum and the game... plus he's made several reasonable posts this year. :) hehe

To everyone else I played golf with in 2009, it was a pleasure! I enjoyed every minute of walking through the trees whilst you buggers were all on the fairway! :(
 
Ive not been here long and everyone has been equally good with ideas and tips, but i would say bobmac for his funny pictures on what seems every post he writes :D. Hope everyone keeps it up for this year.

All joking aside, we've had some laughs haven't we ;) ;) ;)

I've met some cracking guys off the forum and had some great days out on courses I would never have visited had it not been for here.
Long may it continue

I joined in April 07, and, although not an avid poster, i log on most days to see whats going on. My new years resolution is to start posting more and to get on the course with some fellow forumers !!!

As for poster of the year . . . . In our virtual clubhouse :-

- I see it that the Scottish contingent are a very knowledgeable bunch, Birdieman, JF, AF, Dodger et al are often at the club, sat in the corner discussing all aspect of the game from its history, different courses, equipment, make up of our scratch team etc

- Madandra is our Club Captain - jovial, honest opinions and is welcoming to all.

- Mono is one of our juniors who seems to live at the course, always checking out all the new gear in the pro shop,,,stirring up a number of different reactions from various members

- HJS is again always at the course, either on the practice ground or putting green and can often be seen having a coffee in the clubhouse inbetween practice drills.

- Smiffy, Drawboy , Imurg , Murph , Brendy are stood at the bar, chatting to everyone and cracking jokes at / with whomever walks by.

- The GM team (the committee) are enjoying the club as much as the members and enjoy getting involved with the banter. Their doing a great job at keeping all their members happy.

- But . . .drum roll...my nomination for member of the year is our resident professional Bob Mac. A credit to his profession - very knowledgeable, always willing to give (free) advice and has made me laugh out loud many times with his witticisms.

Looking forward to hopefully meeting many of you on the course in 2010

That's just not true.

You look at his face when he's just completed his 3rd three putt in a row and see if you don't laugh so much a bit of wee follows through.

Thanks for the mention guys, but I'm afraid Smiffy gets my vote too.
His golf is much funnier than mine
Mind you, I still wouldn't buy a second hand car from him ;)
 
I wouldn't like to single someone out to be honest. I think the beauty of the forum is the diversity of opinions, the variance in humor and difference between peoples writing styles. Whilst individual characters help enrich the site, the overall effect of the forum is created by the entire membership. My vote goes to everyone who has contributed within the last year. Keep up the good work.
