Just been to the post office to send some wedges I sold on here, thanks again Jason.

Always used them and always been less than a fiver, just been charged 11.95!

This is the cheapest they now do for that parcel size. Blooming jokers !!

Hermes even cheaper but 2 days to collect and 2-3 days to deliver, but good economy service.

Just suffered the same. Also Parcelforce 48 (assumed this meant 48hrs) takes at least 72 to Scotland (assumed Scotland was still part of the union), when I queried whether 72 meant the charge would only be 2/3rd's of 48 I was met with disinterested derision, as if to say you don't really expect a 48hour service do you??

Interparcel for me in future

Try citylink too lots of cheaper options that post office these days since the resized there pricing structure.
Say that companies name in a Shaun Connery accent.... thats exactly what they are. You want to avoid Citylink and Yodel. Both are very poor delivery companies.
DPD, APC, Fedex, TNT are very good companies. We've used most if not all 'big' couriers and we've settled on APC. Over the last 2 years APC have only ever misplaced one parcel and missed a deadline only due to bad weather. Not the cheapest but very good service.

Myhermes are ok but it very much depends on the driver you get both ends, you will not find a cheaper courier though.

That can be said of any hub & spoke operation and APC are a franchise operation also. They are good, I used to give them up to 30 parcels a night but some area's we stopped putting them through them as those franchise's were not very good and would not always update their tracking system.

If its not time sensitive then Hermes and simply state it will be there in 5 working days, possibly sooner.

Myhermes uses people getting paid per parcel and not an employee in most cases. This is how they can offer the service at such a low price. That was my main point with saying it depends on which person you get. I didn't make that clear. Apologies.

I understand that, APC drivers are predominantly self employed and earn revenue from their collections, as such, they will abandon deliveries to get to their collections if needs be! Franchise owners will also not always get extra vehicles in if they are caught out with more parcels or bulk deliveries than they can handle, they will false descrep them as not received and feed them into their deliveries the next day to keep their costs down.

I think most carriers do a good job overall but their are flaws with all of them, including corporates.

Must bare these other companies in mind in future.
Thanks :)

Yeah give Parcel2go a try. Hermes are cheapest but like you expect with cheap services you get ... cheap service :p

I use TNT myself as I have never had a problem and don't mind paying a little more for a near enough guaranteed service.

I hope this resolves the RM issue as the price increases is the final bullet. Shame really :-(

just been to PO who wanted £10 for a parcel, back to myhermes who want £5 for same parcel, tracked and will collect tomorrow from me hoose!

Interparcel who give options, Im using UPS which includes insurance and tracking for approx £12.50 for a set of irons. A tad high granted but worth it for piece of mind and the service they give. At the end of the day if your sale, is plus postage then the customer is paying anyway and if you are paying it pays to give good service.

Good is rarely cheap

Cheap is rarely good

Good and cheap are rarely together.
