Off to the local DG (I know, I know) to try some golf sticks. Hoping to try 825 pro's abs the Nike vr combo irons. Anybody play/played with either? Anything else similar I should consider?

Try everything, and don't be surprised if they push John Letters stuff on you. Be wary of custom fits that they miraculously have in store for you...

Part of my I know I know comment was I'm awarme of what they can be like. Part of my reason for going there is they stock all brands, specifically the two I most want to try, have an outdoor range on site and share a car park with a lovely farm shop that does an awesome cooked breakfast!

Callaway Apex pro - knocked my sox off

The John Letters stuff is really good gear. My playing partner went there for a custom fit a few weeks back and the JL clubs he tried (irons and fairway woods) out performed anything else he tried. Also saved him a fair bit of cash as well.

Some of their wedges look really nice as well, and I've been tempted a few times before.

I'll also add their putters have a lovely feel as well. I think it was the 'Silver Swan' (correct me if I'm wrong) that I had a go with.

Well, ended up with the Mizuno 825 pro's and imo, for £263 they are a bargain. Really pleased. Just gotta wait fir them to be adjusted then good to go.

bargain right enough- was it only 5 clubs or something for that price?

5-PW looking at the website (that's what I got in non pro for even less!)
shafts pictured are Dynalite XP but OP's may be different I guess.
