Off on Monday for a couple of nights at Portpatrick for a birthday golf break - Cant wait!

Unfortunately my birthday coincides with the Scottish Ladies Amature Golf champs so cant get on the Dunskey :( but hopefully a bit of a loosener on their 9 hole par 3 course.

But looking forward to playing Wigtownshire County and Lagganmore - oh, and the weather is forecast to be pretty good.

Course reviews to follow - any tips from anyone who has played these gratefully received.

Pity you can't get onto Dunskey, it's a really nice course with some good scenery along the way. The wee par 3 course is good fun, don't think it will be a walkover as the greens are small targets on several of the holes. Good fun wee course though. It is always in good condition.

Lagganmore, well, if the pink 'clubhouse' doesn't put you off.... :D The 9th is a fun par 3 but the 7th is an abortion IMO. The 17th tee shot is a tester. Simple golf though.

Wigtownshire County is a nice course. There are a couple of contrived holes 13/14 if I remember, other than that it's a nice test of golf. It always seems to be breezy there, even on a calm day.

Enjoy yourself

Thanks DCB, Pink clubhouse

It is a shame about the dunskey bit I'm sure I'll get a chance in the future.

September is the wife's birthday and planning on visiting bute and the three courses their, one of which is a 13 holer!
