Accessing the My Golf section of the howdidido website a couple of weeks ago, I found that my long term average score had suddenly jumped up from 89.0 to 92.3. On checking back through my results, I found that a 4 year gap between February 2011 and February 2015 had appeared, a period when I was playing quite well.

I reported this to their technical help line by email, which promises a 48 hour response, but two weeks later I have heard nothing back! I have re-reported this this morning and will wait to see if I get any response this time.

Sure someone hasn't changed the database at your own club ?

Since it's a free to use system, it's hardly fair to blame HDID for poor service, is it ?

All my scores prior to Feb 2011 and since Feb 2015 are still there, so I'm not sure what my club could have done to cause this gap. If they had all disappeared I could understand that!

It's not really a free to use system though is it- the clubs have to pay for it so it will be factored into annual subs won't it?

Obviously your scores matter to you. Personally, apart from two or 3 rounds that I like to look back at I couldn't give a toss what I was doing last year let alone the years before. It has no relevance to how I'm playing now nor how I will play tomorrow.

However, maybe ask some of your fellow members have the same issues. Maybe, as was said earlier, its something your club have done.

Does it really matter?

A good period of golf can bring a positive mental attitude so it could matter. Its really down to the individual and where they draw their confidence from.

I certainly enjoyed looking back at my past successes and I will admit that I found some confidence from looking back at recent (and some less recent) good scores.

I often look back from
Previous years to compare stats etc, especially hole averages. So it does matter.

HDID is an appalling website. I wish the clubv1 system our handicap sec uses was available to the golfer too (my main gripe is that HDID doesn't show away scores - like other competitors do)

HDID is one of the main reasons why were are currently moving away from CS and HDID to start using Intelligent Golf

Well at least I got a response from them at the second attempt. They asked me if I had changed clubs during the affected period, to which the answer is No!

Must just be cheap, intelligentgolf is much better hence why the unions use it

We changed from Club 2000 to HandicapMaster about 5/6 years ago. About half the year on year cost and a much better system. Said before, the only reason Club 2000 is popular is that they were in first with PSI and barcard integration, gained market leadership when there was little competition and grew on the back of that. We all know how difficult it is to change anything in a golf club so most clubs just accept the status quo and never do a proper evaluation. If all clubs had to start from scratch I doubt Club 2000 would get 10% of the market. The PC software is just as flakey as their web service unless things have dramatically changed since we moved.

You may find that this is because they normally only respond to the club administrator . Ask your club official to ring their support line which may be quicker.

They have a help section that you can contact by email, which is what I did. They have responded to my second email.

You can add to that, that the website template a lot of clubs use through Club 2000 is a steaming turd that will do nothing to attract visitors/new members. The course tours on it are never done properly or the template just doesn't allow it.

A basic HDID question. I played in an Open comp last weekend and we entered our score into HDID. Now my club is not on HDID - that seems to mean that I cannot register - and not being registered seems to mean hat I cannot see the competition scores - and hence I cannot see my own score or where I came.

Or am I missing something?

You don't enter scores into HDID

It's entered into CS which then pushes the results to HDID

And yes you can't register with HDID unless your club is on CS .

The club should put their scores on their website on the public side so that everyone can see

Which club is it and I can have a check
