Maybe Bob could answer this one.

I just wondered how club pro's go on when the weather is as bad as it is at the moment?

We've had almost a week of a snow covered course now. (I know some peeps have had longer)
I pity the poor pro, no on course lessons, no lessons at all. Probably no club members in the shop to buy gear. No competitions to get a cut from.

I imagine winter must be a very lean time for them.

Perhaps they could invent some form of training aid.....

They'd then have money to burn - which would keep them toasty warm in the long, cold winter months.....

Spoke to our pro today and he seemed quite down. Yes he is on a retainer but with christmas coming he relies on us members popping in, having a go on the christmas draw and then flogging the odd bit here and there.
Its supposed to be our presentation evening sunday night as well when the major winners get the vouchers for the shop. It can't be much fun !

How can we feel sorry for club pro's, they make enough during the good weather so they can take the hit during the bad times.
I know our pro makes a nice living so it's not all that bad...........
I'd take a job like his!

Maybe the odd pro makes a killing, but of all the pros and assistants I know, none of them are rolling in money.

At my place, from the retainer the club pays, the head pro has to pay the other pros and assistants, and run his shop.

One of the pros works the shop 2 days a week, at about £5 an hour, and makes all the rest of his money from lessons.

I don't think I'd be jealous of any of them right now.

Well, I'm doing my bit.

Popped into the club quickly yesterday to get a Ping G10 3 wood, that I picked up off a mate for £20, reshafted with the Javln shaft I picked up from Craw for £16.

Hopefully a G10 3 wood with stiff shaft should be mine today for the grand sum of £46!!! :)
