Hi all,

This month, we want to know what your highest ever Stableford points score is. This could be in a competition, during a casual round with friends, etc. Wherever, as long as the Rules of Golf were adhered to. We'd also like to know about the round - when, what course, what went well, have you got close to that score again, have you ever felt like that on a golf course again?

As ever, responses are encouraged and appreciated.

Kind regards,

Nick

As we play stroke play (it's odd that the English clubs don't often use this format), I had to work out a stableford score from my best round this year.

Gross 78, Net 60 for 47 points.

This was after a lot of practice and finally getting my swing to click. I was off 18 at the time but swiftly chopped down having won this and another couple of comps around the same time.

What was remarkable is that I had a blob in there as well as a gross double bogey.

A great round and I was well chuffed but haven't broke 80 since in a comp.

Scored 46 points at donnington grove before i really got bitten by the golf bug, i was given 28 handicap in a society day. Came second to a bandit who scored about 50 (he actually was a bandit, i was just lucky!)

46 points when I shot 4 under par playing off 6 h/cap, very satisfying as it was in the company of a fellow forumer, but 3 bogies in the round (to go with the 7 birdies) meant there was still some room for improvement :p

44 playing off 3 a few years ago. Was a huge blast, just saw the shots and the swing produced them. Everything seemed so calm and easy. Don't play many stablefords so it lingers nicely in the memory. Didn't get close to that for a while but feels like I'm getting back to that level of play again.

In a comp - 42 points when off 8

In a roll up - 44 points off 5 - 3 under gross

I'm almost ashamed to say my highest is 51 points playing off 21 (fortunately not in a comp).

Just one of those remarkable days where I could do no wrong. Chipped in twice for birdie and did not miss a single putt inside 6 feet.

The only time I've ever hit a single figure over par round and no sign of another one coming any time soon!!

45 points in 1995.

Never beaten it. Never played a lower gross score in a stableford or medal since, either.

Hey, ho...

46 for me a couple of years ago. Handicap had drifted from 6 to 9.5 with the shanks. One day almost free from them and shot level par with an 8 at a par 4.

43 - Forum meet at Hillside couple of years ago.

Arrived last minute due to work/traffic, missed the lunch, couple of practice putts then straight out in last group. Never played Hillside before, beautiful day, only a light wind. Have never hit the ball better off the tee before or since. Memorable eagle at 11th brought very quickly down to earth with a double at the 12th when my driving got a bit too cocky and I carved it into a pond! Let Alan Hansen and Kenny Dalgleish through on the next tee (very nice chaps they were too). Then managed to grind out several pars with a birdie on 17th for a 1 under gross and 43 points. Best day out ever, best score on an away course ever and even got GM photographer "action shots" to prove it!!

Never going back to Hillside, I've probably got the best average there outside the pro ranks :)
