Who still polishes their golf shoes?

With so much plastic and material based crappy shoes about, who actually gives their shoes the weekly treatment - and I do not mean a paint over with a lipstick style foam tipped thingy.

I'm talking about a two brush, wax on wax off polish, finished with a rubbing rag, using some elbow grease and a proper tin of Cherry Blossom, Kiwi or similar.

Or is it just the old fogies, or ex forces personnel who bother? :smirk:

Heard a tip a while back. Put golf shoes in the dishwasher to really give them a good clean. Now mine have lost there waterproofing and were wet inside and not smelling too clever after yesterdays round.
Now Mrs Craig was out at The mother in laws, so me being a good hubby decided to load the dishwasher for her, yes you've guessed it, complete with musty golf shoes.
Well, to cut a long story short, Mrs Craig caught me in the act of unloading, non too pleased I can tell you, and the shoes still stink, so it doesnt work! Will give the washing machine a go next time she's out.
In answer to the op, I do clean them and spray with waterproofing agent when needed.

I think it's just old fogies and grumpy expats :D :D

Every single time I wear them, brush the muck off, clean the whole shoe including sole. Dry off, give a good coat of polish (Kiwi, and only ever Kiwi) leave to dry till late evening, bush off, then final buff with very soft brush. Put back in car for next game.

I cant abide dirty shoes, and yes ex-forces, but had OCD long before that.

So how do you polish the blue bits on these? ;)

I wear trainer style golf shoes, suede brush and washing machine on no heat works a treat. I spent a lot of time bulling my boots for parade I don't feel the need to do it anymore. So i think its just old folks and ex mob who can't let go of the life (you know the ones who wear their tour ribbons on a civiy blazer at any opportunity)

I do mine. Am not ex forces and don't think I'm old enough to be an old fogey yet.

I'm not ex-forces and I clean mine after every round. Part of the post round ritual for me.

I use a Timberland wax and a light buff for a waxy effect of my brown Contours and buff a bit more to get a shine on my black Aqualites. Following a tip on here I just use a baby wipe on my white Aqualites as they never get get worn in the wet. Black greenjoys (which are synthetic) get a thorough wash with warm soapy water (including soles) and occasionally a quick rub over with GT85.

My spikeless shoes are trainer material, so a bucket of hot soapy and a scrubbing brush takes care of those ( or the washing machine if HID is out)
For my spikes (Nike Lunars) I use wet wipes after every round and dry them off with a towel. Winter season they get a waterproofing spray applied.

Not ex-forces (the wet wipes were a give away ?) but played for two football teams back in the day and Kiwi polish was under strict orders from an OCD father.

None of my golf shoes would take a traditional polish treatment (pity)

Shoes are cleaned after each round, couldn't bear to turn up on the tee with last weeks mud hanging off manky shoes

I'll ask HID............ Apparently I wipe them with baby wipes as soon as I get in, put silicon gel packs inside them to help dry them and pack them with newspaper if very wet or put into shoe horns. When they dry, kiwi polish and a good wipe on the leather and a wipe with a damp cloth (and milk according to HID) on the patent parts (on those in my collection that has them).

You sir either have a weird fetish or to much time on your hands!

A pal of mine who I am playing with today has just got back into golf. He has bought new budget clubs and bag. Coz he didn't know whether he would take to it again. Dr advised him to play again due to him being stressed with losing his job. (Don't know about that 😳)
anyway the only thing he uses from last time is his FJ spiked shoes. Jet black and polished to the max. He reckons they have been polished that many times they are like carpet slippers. There noisy when walking on gravel though.
