In Wales alone they have risen by £4.9m, OK the report reads that some of this can be recovered by event organisers but this below is ludicrous!

The highest single overtime payment to a police employee was £23,024, which was paid to a speed camera operator in the Gwent Police force area.

That can be justified when speeding tickets "earns" £60 a pop, though they tell us camera vans are about keeping roads safe and its not about making money. Yeah right

Not just police. my fire station is down 8 firemen. We are supposed to have 28. The're filling the gaps by giving retained fire fighters zero hour contracts. This all sounds good but it means they cant give cover at their local station so fire engines are off the run and large areas within the community have no fire cover.

I mentioned this to a member of the fire authority and he said '' most people are dead by the time you get to them anyway "

Thanks for the council tax though

The politicians..........
''Lets cut the number of police officers back to the bone to save money, that will work'' :)

On Friday night Tamworth had 2 police officers covering the whole town. As a tax payer i find this disgusting.

All down to cuts to many public services - also have to see the cuts to the military , they appear proud that they have got the levels down quicker than expected.

I don't see that one guy earning an extra £20K/year in overtime is a big deal... even a plumber can make £70K in a quiet year.

If you cut down on the amount of Police employed then you will end up paying more in overtime. I'm sure we'll eventually run the NHS on as few nurses as possible (if we're not already) and the overtime bill would be crippling to the economy IF they actually got paid for it.

I don't think a £5M rise is a big deal.... not across an entire force for an entire year.
