Evening fella's,

Iv been away for a bit....Just taking a break from the internet and that and trying to not get too many thoughts inside my head....Im still struggling with getting my legs working properly in the swing......Sorry Bob :(....I wont give in though.

Have i missed much.....Seems like there is heaps happening.

Anyhooooo iv got a few bob coming to me from a christmas club and im just wondering is there any of you boys on here that are into photography......Im thinking of getting an entry level DSLR and im torn between Canon,Pentax and Nikon. Budget is around 600 euro's.

Im finding it hard NOT to give in and spend it on new clubs......The i10's are working fine..... ;)

No idea on cameras mate sorry but as you have been away have a look into the arrange a game section (go back a few days) irish craic classic details are up on it ..

I use Canon and very happy with my EOS30D. I bought the body on Fleabay and the rest of the lenses seperately. I wouldn't have any problem with any of the makes that you list.

Good luck with whatever you choose!

Chris

Nikon D3100 is a very good entry level camera. I got a Sony A450 which is a good camera but does not have the quality lens choice like Canon and Nikon.

I take it this camera is for taking normal photos, not golf swings?

Quite the opposite Bob......Ill have my swing dissected like a worm in a biology class.... ;)
Im aware that the video quality aint the best at that budget but it will suffice for the swing i hope.

Hey Chris.....
The 3 i had in mind were Canon 1100d
Nikon D3100
and the Pentax K-r....................

From looking at the reviews they all have advantages over each other so i suppose i wouldnt really go wrong with any of them.

Always been a Nikon man myself. Top gear used it for 30 years. All the camera bodys are backward compatable with all their lences. 30 year old lens fit todays bodies. Ok you lose some of the funtions. But no other camera maker has that. They bring a new type of camera out so you need all new lences. They are the most expensive part. I have one lencse a 300mm 2-8F cost £3000 15years ago was made for the F5 film camera and I can still use it today. Even use 30yr old ones. Ok can only be used in manual focus. But then I rarely use auto anyway.

If you want it for filming your golf swing, you can get a Casio for less than half that budget which is great quality

Id like to mess about with pictures as well though Bob...I think with the entry level DSLR's there more focused on the photography than video....

Pentax lenses are backwards compatible too.

Also I should have said, handle the cameras. They all handle differently and only you can feel what feels right and most intuitive.

Personally I don't like the handling of Canons, much prefer Nikon.

Also don't discount Olympus...very sharp lenses.

Bridge cameras are what they are. neither one thing or the other. A compact will do more or less the same. If I remember not all pentax are backward compatable. But I will stand corrected if that is so. Only used Pentax in medium format. They did a great 67 SLR. Still use it now one of the best landscape cameras made. A tripod is a must though.

My main field was macro photography. Not the macro setting you get on your zoom lens. But proper life size or greater. Funny but I still prefure slide film to digital. That way I can develope my own. Use a Nikon slide scanner to scan to the computer with.

Its pretty safe to say that you know a thing or 2 so my friend.....I think that ill go with the Pentax....There are good deals on them over here even if the Nikon and the Canon are the more popular.
