Guys

After much harrassing you (thank you for those that voted in the online poll) I am please to announce (subject to the missus saying yes) that realgolferuk, known to some as Dave has agreed to play with me in the GM Challenge match at Royal Ascot.

I had a lot of offers (including some from guys with less than 5 posts to the forum) and I wish I could have played everyone. Thanks for your support

Dave and I are arranging a practice game on the Tuesday so he can at least see the course so that we can do you all proud. The other pair will be one of my regular Saturday morning partners and his son as this was 2nd choice in the online poll and should make an interesting angle for the article.

I will (and I hope Dave will too) keep you posted on how I am hitting it in the run up to the main event. We'll give you the lowdown after our practice session so if anyone wants to have a wager they will have the inside knowledge.

Hope you are happy with my choice (tough if you aren't) and that we do you proud

Dave
Well done. Enjoy every minute - a great opportunity.
Homer - sounds like you have a great team.

(Think it's time I recruited some more ladies to this forum - then we could field a team!)

Good idea AliB, GM v the Forum Ladies would make a superb article.

My eventual plan is to submit a family challenge to GM as my Dad, Brother and Wife all play and would be up for the competition.

Good luck to all in the latest challenge have fun and never forget that winning is more fun than losing.

The GM team will be Jezz Ellwood (5) Paul O’Hagan (5) Luke Norman (8) and John Thynne (18).

The GM Forum team will be

Martin Bedborough (Homer) 14
Dave ????? (realgolferuk) 12
Robert Soutar (my regular Saturday partner) 28 (but playing bandit golf every weekend at the moment)
Jamie Soutar (Robs son) 14 (but rusty as he hasn't played for ages but I'm assured by his Dad he will be downthe range over Easter)

Oh, that was a close call brendy.....I almost forgot your cardinal sins of bad golf!!!

I think I'll be ok....only thing I need to do is ingrain the new swing and shoot scores like the old days.

GB72 (Dave also?)
I checked out your link - is that the golf club or just the family seat? Either way I'm impressed!

It would be good to get more ladies on the forum - but not sure how. Does your wife read GM? or the forum?

My wife does not read GM yet. She is just beginning and is a fair weather golfer so clubs have been away since November. Hoping this will be the year that she takes it seriously and gets fully hooked.

Sadly Stoke Rochford is just the golf club. Have been to a few functions at the hall but not enough to claim residence.
