We all know that Pro's are given special treatment to massage their huge egos but one thing they do that REALLY gets on my nerves is their failure to remove there caps when in a news conference or interview.

I understand they have contractual obligations with equipment menufacturers but it is simple lack of etiquette. I would like to see them remove their hats, caps, and in some instances bandanas before facing the cameras.

Your thoughts ????

i think this wil apply to our new club mate, the removal of said headware in clubhouse, i will need to shave head or have some hair styling products at the ready

Have you seen Furyks cap tan?

Other than that I'm with you all the way Andra. Wearing a cap indoors is just ridiculous. It's like the old guys that wear a bunnet when they're driving.

And I thought it was just me that got annoyed by this ! To me, the idea of headgear is to keep one's head warm ... so what need is there to wear something indoors, or in a car, for that matter ? Personally, I rank it alongside those sad people who try to dress like the 'yoof' of today in a vain attempt to deny their advancing years !

It's alright on the course....but rude when the pros are being interviewed or shaking hands at the end of a round.

Tell your sponsors you want to show some manners, ya buggars!

As in all things golf....if in doubt....what would Jack do?

Completely agree with you madandra, but Atticus has a point. The camera opperators make Furyk keep his cap on because the glare from his head plays havoc with the contrast settings....

I'm pretty sure that Wilson weren't very happy with Harrington, as the very first thing he did after sinking the winning putt at Carnoustie was take his hat off.
It was noticable that later on, some guy ran on the green when he was showing off the claret jug with a hat to put on.

Sadly, money talks. If a sponsor offers you a million quid for a contract where you play their clubs and wear their hat in interviews or half a million for a contract where you just play their clubs (I just made those numbers up btw), it's easy to see why so many wear headgear at inappropriate times.

There's no excuse for not taking your hat off when you shake hands after a match etc though. It doesn't cost anything for us mere mortals!

F1 drivers put a cap on specially to go indoors and do interviews, and then change it for another one to do podiums.

I don't really care if golfers have a hat on to do interviews, the sponsors are paying for something, but it is only polite to remove your hat / visor/ bandana to shake hands at the end of the round.

The cap should be removed when shaking hands at the start or after a round , and I can't see why people would want to wear a cap in the clubhouse anyway.

I also dont blame the pro's for wearing caps during interviews, they work harder than most sportsmen to get to the level they are at - so should take the endorsements what come there way.

The formula one drivers send me to the fair way more than the golfers ever do, watching the winners pulling on some expensive Tag watch or whatever just for the interview, then sitting with their hands out on show...rubbish.

Monty's sense of humour made me smile a few years ago when I think it was Dougie Donnelly or someone was interviewing him and mentioned something about coasting to the win like a Rolls Royce, Monthy straight in ther corrected him and said "like a Lexus", genius.

No, blame the sponsors then.

I'd personally think very highly of any sponsor who INSTRUCTED their pro to take their bloody cap off during interviews, particularly indoors. Now that would be a sponsor who actually knows what the spirit of the game is all about.

Sadly many professional sportsmen these days would bear their backside to the camera if someone paid to put a logo on it.

Would always doff cap at end of round for handshakes but have never considered taking hat off at start of round to shake hands and can't recall seeing anyone else do that - is that bad form?
Clubhouse - cap should not be on.
