USER1999
Grand Slam Winner
Well, played in the mixed today. Two ladies, one off 13, the other off 21, me off 12 and the other man off 13.
First off, credit to the ladies, it was a lot of fun, and thoroughly enjoyable.
Unfortunately, it was frosty, and 18 temps. This made scoring a bit of a lottery, but obviously the same for everyone.
It was best two stableford scores to count, and we shot 96 points, with me scoring on 12 holes, and the 21 h/capper on 11. In general we all played well, but we missed top spot by 1, with 3 groups sharing the glory on 97.
One of the ladies had two putts which were in, til they hit the iron back edge and jumped back out, so I feel we were moral victors.
To be fair, it was a nice day, and leaves me in a quandary over whether to play in it next year, although I think I got a good draw so hmm.
Highlight of the day was shanking the ball over the head of the other man, on my second on the 8th, after a cracking drive. Left myself an awkward 87 yards, off a bareish lie. He walked on ahead, apparently well out of the way. Oops, fore, and he ducked as the ball just missed taking the bobble off his hat. Left me with a nasty chip out of the fir trees too.
Had to laugh, as I looked back from the next tee, a good friend of mine shanked it into the same trees, from exactly the same position on the fairway. Obviously not me, just played into a 'shanking zone'. They should be like gur, you should get a drop out.
