Well, played in the mixed today. Two ladies, one off 13, the other off 21, me off 12 and the other man off 13.

First off, credit to the ladies, it was a lot of fun, and thoroughly enjoyable.

Unfortunately, it was frosty, and 18 temps. This made scoring a bit of a lottery, but obviously the same for everyone.

It was best two stableford scores to count, and we shot 96 points, with me scoring on 12 holes, and the 21 h/capper on 11. In general we all played well, but we missed top spot by 1, with 3 groups sharing the glory on 97.

One of the ladies had two putts which were in, til they hit the iron back edge and jumped back out, so I feel we were moral victors.

To be fair, it was a nice day, and leaves me in a quandary over whether to play in it next year, although I think I got a good draw so hmm.

Highlight of the day was shanking the ball over the head of the other man, on my second on the 8th, after a cracking drive. Left myself an awkward 87 yards, off a bareish lie. He walked on ahead, apparently well out of the way. Oops, fore, and he ducked as the ball just missed taking the bobble off his hat. Left me with a nasty chip out of the fir trees too.

Had to laugh, as I looked back from the next tee, a good friend of mine shanked it into the same trees, from exactly the same position on the fairway. Obviously not me, just played into a 'shanking zone'. They should be like gur, you should get a drop out.

I think the fact that a number of teams tied with you indicates that the level of female playing may be slightly better than you anticipated. My own views were pretty apparent on the OP and I really don't enjoy these type of events. I'm not even a great fan of pro-ams unless I'm playing in a decent tournament or on a good course. Just call me fickle.

I'm glad it worked out and that shanks apart you struck the ball pretty well.

Glad you had a good time and your partner was up to scratch. Sadly our club only has 2 ladies so don't have much experience of official 'mixed' comps, though us girls did play in a friendly interclub event a few weeks ago. I'm glad to say no one on either team batted an eyebrow at having female company. We had a great day depsite a heavy loss.
