As a 28 handicapper I am capable of the odd birdie but am more likely to take 7,8,9+ on any given hole, I played yesterday and went on a run of four holes shooting par, double, par, par.

That is the most consistant I have been over a number of holes and boy it felt good (the next hole was +4, but I was a tad cockey at the point :D )

It just goes to show how important consistancy is, I have the game to make my scores tumble, just need to do it ona few more holes per round!!

What's the best run of holes you have had?

(probably aimed more at high handicappers, but you guys playing of single figures are welcome to tell us about the 4 birdies and an eagle...)

Well done on your little run, if you keep putting more runs like that your scores will tumble. Good luck!! :)

The only type of run I remember was last summer when I was 2 under after about 13 holes then finished with 8 over after 18. It felt great until the wheels came off and I was thinking of what everyone else would be saying when I tell them I shot under par. Thinking ahead too much is fatal.

Consistancy is the key. I can't hit a barn door never mind the fairway off the tee ATM. A month ago it was all so different...!!! :) :)

That's what happened on the par four where I took 8. Not a long hole on the course and after a decent drive I overshot the green and stuck in some thick rough that took two to get out then chipped over the green.

The three pars were a 3 and two 4's two fairways hit and three greens.

Very happy.

The best run I have had, which seems like a life time ago but can remember it as if it was yesterday, was a twilight round at my local pay and play course.

Playing off 18 I found myself +2 for the course thru 3 holes and was gutted I took a double on the par 5 3rd to get to that score. A run of 4 birdies a bogey and a par see me hit the turn at -1. I was grinning from ear to ear. It was just ‘One of those rounds’ where everything I hit was true and straight and hunting down the pin like a sniper.

A bogey on the 10th followed by 7 straight par’s see me standing on the 18th tee at level par. The 18th is a par 3 140 yards over water. As I was standing over the ball on the tee my arms were visibly shaking. I played my stroke and stuck it in the drink, I was nearly in tears!!! I took my 3rd off the tee and 3 putted for a +3 round of 73. Although I was gutted I made a treble on the last I couldn’t help but be over the moon with my score.

What I would pay to have another round like that. Maybe this week...

Well done mate, nice little run put together.

Did the same thing last Friday and boy, it felt good!
Playing off 26, my runs of pars are few and far between. So, it's quite a euphoric time when holes are parred, especially when you put one, two or even three together.

You usually drive back home from the course, the happiest man in the world and think Golf is simply the best game in the world.

I have a good 4 hole run.... including 3 par 4's and a par 3. I got par, birdie, par, par!
I was amazed and shot a 43 on the front 9!
i was chuffed!

Longest run without a par for years and it wasn't because I was miles over. Interesting space of holes that was!!

Just a shame about the double and the bogies!

Inconsistency is the main problem for us high handicappers.

I played to my handicap (24) over 9 holes last night - Stableford scores were 1 x blob, 2 x 1 point, 2 x 2 points, 2 x 3 points & 1 x 4 points.

Frustrating, isn't it?!
