Basically

i am am aware that you are not allowed top play any course that you will be competing in stroke play, on the same day.

However

Could i play on course "a" in the morning, before playing course "b" in the competition in the afternoon?

How that makes sense!

Thanks

Cheers both

The answer seems obvious, but best to check.

I am playing 36 on Saturday, the 2nd 18 being in the medal.

again

Thanks

Make sure you take on plenty of fluids! That (lack of fluids) is the major contributor to loss of concentration/focus in the 2nd round!

And wait until after the 2nd round before touching the alcoholic fluids too! Though it has been known to 'relax' some!

What would happen if both rounds were medals?

If someone is a member of 2 clubs/courses and plays a medal on course a in the morning, plays well and shoots under the epxected CSS, then plays the course b medal in the afternoon.
Would they use the same handicap for both as there wouldn't be anyway of confirming what cut they may have got on course a.
Similarly if they had had a shocker in the morning would they include the 0.1 for the afternoon round on course b?

The player is obliged to 'self cut' his handicap. If the CSS is not available he must do it based on the SSS.
He may not self increase his handicap.

CONGU Clause 20.
If a player returns a Qualifying Score or Scores below his Playing Handicap at his Home Club or away

and is unable to:
(a) report an away score(s) to his Home Club or
(b) ascertain whether or not his Playing Handicap has been reduced as a result of the score(s)
he must, before playing in another competition at his Home Club or away, for that competition
make such reduction to his Playing Handicap as shall be appropriate under the UHS by applying
the Competition Scratch Score if known, otherwise the Standard Scratch Score, to calculate his Nett
Differential and handicap reduction.
Should a player not know his Exact Handicap, such reduction should be made from his Playing
Handicap less 0.5, (e.g. If Playing Handicap is 6 then reduction should be from 5.5).
Note: Handicap reductions only shall be applied under this sub-clause. Handicap increases may only be
made by a player’s Home Club after scores have been duly reported and published in accordance with
Clause 20.9.

No problem. It's only the competition course you are not allowed to practice on the day. :)
