Forgive the indulgence here. For the record, the shot down the first finished down the right side but three putted for a bogey. The drive at 17 was on the left side of the fairway with 166 to the front and 182 to the flag. Hit a 5-iron that kicked into the Road Hole bunker but got up and down from six feet for a sandy par. Thank heaven for 64 degree lob wedges.

That's legalised cheating isn't it ;)

Must be a bit intimidating playing The Old Course when the stands are still there.

Of course I'm only jealous :D :D

Must say the music really helps add drama to the event. You really are quite a celebrity Paul, and you’re so modest with it.

So what were the bar prices like up at St Andrews?

(If you ever fancy that match it will have to be before Friday as after that I’m taking a LONG break from this game)

I am suprised you hit the dog off the 1st seeing as surely the burn would be in play cos you were off the ladies tee half way down the fairway!

Stiff breeze into the face I take it?

Nope, unfortunately Paul is not blessed with length off the tee or in stature.

Yep it was into the wind that day and I had to hit 6-iron for my second shot. Yet naturally by the time we got round to 18, it was still driver and gap wedge to hit the green.

But there is nothing that quite prepares you for that first shot. I've been fortunate enough to play the Old Course a few times now and still brick it each time I walk on to the first tee.
