Was just talking to an old mate I haven't seen in years who me and the family are going to see in Florida soon, and 5 mins into the conversation he casually mentions that that he's a member at Doral. 'Exsqueeze me' I said, 'you are what?'

Turns out he gets free membership through his work. Now there's a perk if ever I saw one. And he then drops the bomb that he can get me onto the Blue Monster for $140, usual green fee is around $450 apparently, if I am interested. Or play the other courses for next to nothing.

So I think I will take him up on that. After all The Blue Monster beat the pros up a bit the other week, so what possible horrors could it have in store for a happy hacker like myself? What can possibly go wrong?;)

You will enjoy that. I walked the course a few years ago as a spectator and it was in amazing condition, the fairways were like greens. I think there is more water in play than actual grass:)

Remember to take up the option of a free drop with a new ball if you end up near a 'gator'!!!!!!! More water in play now than even there used to be, you'll need a good supply of ammunition.

Nice...

I don't suppose you'll be there in April, say, between the 4th and the 12th, and might possibly be able to get another invite for a fellow forumer who may go by the name of HawkeyeMS and might also be in Florida on those dates? ;)

Apparently you have to have a 'caddie come ball spotter' who goes on ahead to identify your ball. Although to be honest unless he's wearing a wet suit and diving apparatus I don't think he will be much use for me.

I suspect if he's ahead ready to see where my ball goes I'll be saying 'come a bit closer', 'no closer still', ' keep coming....', 'yes I know I have a 5 iron in my hand but that's about right, you got a problem with that pal?' ' yes I can see that myself thank you due too the fact I topped it 90 yards'

Quite a few courses insist on a 'fore caddie' - The Blue Monster isn't on my bucket list anyway

Or between September 1st and September 11th?????

I have a friend at work who is staying at the Trump Doral Resort and playing the Blue Monster. He’s also going to the Bahamas and playing a course there on the same trip. Plus Orlando, but no golf there as far as I’m aware.

Where is good to play near Disneyworld? Somewhere special, but for a high handicapper, and ideally not somewhere that takes all day to get round. Blue Monster is a bit far away, and might be a bit tricky. Are Disney's courses any good?
