I'll be playing Brora, Tain, Golspie and Dornoch Championship at the end of the month....so I thought I'd ask for some advice from those who've played there....

Is there much lost besides yardage when playing from short tees? I'm a sub-6k yard bogie golfer and typically play 5500 to 6k yard tees...and it's likely that the red tees are more my length...

By "much lost" I'm referring to the nature or character of the course....I would not like facing forced carries beyond my typical drive's carry of 175-190 yards and par-3s where I would need to use a driver.

There are not really any forces Carries At Royal Dornoch and its not a long course by any means even off the back. They won't let you play off the back anyway , so yellow are your only option TBH. I;m not sure of what the course is like off the red as i've never payed too much attention when ive played the which is mostly off the back tees as when i play its with a member or in a comp.

the other courses are the same really, Tain has a couple of forced carries but only 100 yards or so.

the main factor for you will be the wind and the air pressure and temp meaning you will prob will not hit the ball as far as you do at home.

played Dornoch last weekend in a a 36 holer and it was in good condition as usual.

Playing Tain and Brora this weekend
