I'm going through a bad patch, there I have said it. Every part of the game except the wedges and chipping is poor and I'm sufferring. So what does every red blooded golfer do when they are having a mare of a start to the season? Correct, you blame the bag and go club shopping. I've been wanting some slightly more helpful clubs for a while now. Not shovels like the Ping G20's but a little more helpful than the TM CB's I currently use. As everyone, when I'm on they are great but I do not seem to be on as much as I used to be. I have a fancying for a few sets that I have seen. Buying the newest latest is out, been there, dunnit and it is just throwing money away especially if you do not get on with them.
I am lucky to have a good independant shop local to me, they have been there 25 years and have a good rep. They have a vast second hand section, all good gear too. I have seen a few sets all around the £200 mark. Ping i15, Adams CB3 forged and a few more.
The good thing is if I do buy then I can afford to not have to px the TM's they can be stored away and they allow you to bring them back and exchange them for what you paid towards a different set of SH irons if they do not suit. I know it is the idiot holding the rubber end but sometimes a new set can spark something off and get the year back on track. Hmmmmn I do not know but the pull is strong.

No no no don't resist go buy new shineys they may or may not work but will give you a boost to get out there filled with confidence only new shineys give! :)

Going down a similar route. Been poor off the tee and I know its me but does not stop me looking for a new shiney to help through the bad patch. I will keep the Irka GS5 but there may be a Cleveland Classic XL with my name on it. At £89 how can I resist.

If you do buy the Classic XL just make sure you get the right shaft flex. It isn't a cheap made for shaft it is an original Miyazaki and it is stiff to flex. The reg is a stiff and the stiff will be very stiff. Try it first. It is a lovely club. I bought one and had to send it back.

Heads have very little to do with how well you hit the ball, the engine of the club needs to be right. What shafts are in the CB's pal?
Hi James DG r300's and I know they are heavy. The Adams I have seen have the lighter KBS Tour 90's higher launch and smoother, they load easier too.

Maybe that's the issue, my CBS have xp dynalite as I can't load r/s300's and never have been able to.

What I would honestly do is have a session on a mizzy DNA gadget, that will suggest shafts that suit you, then shop for something with that shaft fitted.

When I was stepping away from the burners I did this and was suggested xps300, px5.5 or Kbs tour stiff, I loved the bc heads so it was a win win. Indecently when I had the custom fit using trackman and flight scope recently is suggested the same three shafts which I why we never bothered changing. As said above the shaft is the engine, everything else is far less important.

I lasted about 2 months with my TM MC's. I knew it was me and not the clubs but its a confidence thing. I bought a second hand set of Adams CB2's and never looked back. They would still be in my bag if it wasn't for alcohol/ebay and a set of shiney Adams CMB's on my auto bid list.

Too late, you've opened the bottle. You've just got to go out and get the shineys... my TM MB/MC combo's lasted 4 mths.

The cb2 was a very nice sleek set of irons, my understanding is the cb3 are the newer version and are a little chunkier.

I found the Kbs tour 90 shafts launched quite high but was a nice shaft, just make sure you get a deal as used adams of the older models drop very quick in price. I paid £200 for mine and only a week later two sets when on eBay for under £140... Todate that was the biggest loss I took on a set of clubs or single club....

Until myhermes joined the party :mmm:

Sorry bud hope it's been tracked now!

Enjoy the new shineys DB :)

Adams irons in my oppinion are hugely underrated, like marmite try em you might like them..

Couldn't agree more, but at the same time if the OP is looking short term he needs to take into account the small following adams irons have, he may get a better deal holding out for an eBay steel that rush buying through a pro.

100% agree I stumbled onto Adams irons, not once did I consider them as my first choice I was a TM whore. The set of cb2's I bought were 2 weeks old and cost me a fraction of the original selling price all because of the limited intrest in Adams in the UK.

Did you have the Classic XL or the Custom Classic adjustable one as from what I can see they have different stock shafts
