Playing partners tantrums

I mostly accept bad shots as just part of the game, perhaps uttering a few choice words along the lines of "oh you silly sod, that was a poor swing" :D. Hate it when I lack concentration to such an extent that I stand over the ball knowing I'm going for the wrong shot, hit it anyway and get the result I deserve. Now that makes my blood boil and I have been known to slam clubs etc. Quite rare but does occasionally happen.

As for playing partners I can cope with the odd tantrum....it happens and is usually forgotten by the next hole. But as some others have said, it's the constant moaners and "unlucky" golfers that do my head in. It's like a broken record sometimes and I end up thinking more about the inane drivel being spouted than my game which then starts to affect me. There are a few culprits in our group (maybe 20 of us) and players we all want to avoid in our draw. Trouble is, they usually start the afternoon moaning about who THEY have been drawn with!!!

In my younger years as a petulant teenager I was guilty of club throwing and getting very annoyed if I under performed. I think (hope) that age has matured me and although I take every round seriously it's not the end of the world anymore. I've come last in some cub comps and got a barrage of stick from the regulars but there again I give it out to others and so it's all fair. It what makes the guys I play with such a great group to be around

I think you should go back to acting like that, it obviously fired you up to play better.

I do not mind the expletives or the odd stomp off the tee or green but the problem with my semi ex playing partner (others in the group still partner him and I sometimes still have to) is that he would be in such a foul mood when not playing well. No conversation, no banter just stomping around the course. Really ruins my enjoyment of a round. Problem is, for him it is all about winning and if he is not looking like winning then he throws a strop.
