Really looking forward to it as i've never played it before. The weather forecast is for it to be very windy, just hope it stays dry for the day.
Anyone who has been, what should i be expecting? i've heard it's very tight and a challenging golf course.
I've had 5 games and 4 sessions on practice ground in last 6 weeks so not expecting too much, just looking forward to the experience.

Have you been yet?????

10 yards off the fairway and you’re in deep crap. Some larger, and deeper, than life bunkers. Amazing piece of natural land and the direction of the course changes all the time meaning the wind direction’s harder to read. The worlds number one for sure, you’ll love it.

Played it yesterday in that wind, 36 holes............. slept really well last night.

What can i say, the golf course, the clubhouse, the food, all amazing. The member who invited me for the game was first class, told me about the history of the club, what changes have been made and why, and when i asked about shots that were played in The Open in years gone by he showed me where they were played from and where the pin was.

The wind was extreme to say the least, the 5th at 561 yards, through the back after a Drive and 9 iron (wouldn't expect to get close on a calm day). The 12th is only 382 yards downhill but had to hit a good Drive and 2 iron just short.

The condition of the course was immaculate and every golf hole was a pleasure to play, very difficult but very fair. Probably the best bunkering i've seen on a golf course, such a variety, from the shallow bunker on the right of the 10th to the deep pots on 13th and the long, thin but deep bunkers on 17th fairway.

I have always thought it was a fantastic golf course from the times i've spectated there, now that i've played it and experienced the clubhouse, it is simply the best course i've ever played.
