been having a few lessons over the last few weeks and last week the pro mentioned a playing lesson might help ,so he can see how the rest of my game shapes up , sounds a good idea apart from the, price £60 for 9 holes just wanted to know if anyones had one, and did it help ???

Essential!

I have learn many shot saving ideas in my two.

I would try and get them at very quiet times (weekday morning off the 10th tee) so you can maximize the course time and minimise the wait time to get the most out of the lesson.

I would only advise against them if you are not confident in your swing and ability as your game might just go to pieces and you could just be wasting your time.

In my last one I shot +3 gross off the county tees over 7 holes, outdrove the pro twice and beat him on two holes as well.

If you are still building a swing I would wait till you can confidently shoot low 90s/high 80s or better to maximise their benefit.

good advice. thanks i thought it was a bit too soon for a playing lesson as not really had long to get used to the changes yet. think i might leave it a bit longer

I would go for a playing lesson when you're comfortable.

They're good for the pro to see how you swing and play on the course as opposed to how you swing and hit shots on the range, can be very different at times depending on your emotional state and the shot required. Also, it will enable them to evaluate your pre-shot routine, strategies and your shortgame.

I like to take students out for a few holes before i start a series of lessons to better determine how to coach each player. It also gives me a chance to talk with the player to find out what they want from the lessons and what their goals are, as well as allowing them to become relaxed in my company so the lessons are more productive and communication is easier.

ANother big vote yes from me. It really helps ingrain the work you've tried to do on the range and the pro can see if you really are taking it out with you. Apart from that it is great to see how a pro looks at a hole compared to an average golfer. So many little things that you can pick up too about tempo, repeating the same things on each shot, reading greens. Worth a go in my book and if you can find a quiet time and maybe play a couple of balls it can really open your eyes

big thumbs up here! I find them great for checking my overall game and picking up tips for playing different lies & particular places on the course that I always end up in.

Look out for offers though. Our pro is currently doing £22.50 for 9 holes and an extra person is just £5 more.
