Had a tee time booked for 9:30 this morning, woke up, it was raining, thought sod it, i booked the day off work for this, im not going to waste a days leave, turned up at the course to find that all holes were open, yet no one else was playing.
Me and my mate were the only 2 on the course. I dont understand why people wont play when the weather was a bit miserable. Had a wet weather jacket on for the first 9, then after that it brightened up, ended up finishing in just a shirt. Had a pretty decent round too!!
:)

So do you play in the rain? Or do you not like getting wet?

Unless I have paid money in advance to play, then I don't like playing in the rain. I will continue if I am out in it, but I rarely start if it is raining before I get onto the first tee. Unless I know for sure that it will stop soon. Golf is meant to be fun, I can't see the fun in getting myself, and all my gear wet.

I dont mind playing in the rain like you say what water and windproofs are for but there comes to a certian point where the rain gets to heavy for me and do not like playing.

I'll play in whatever the weather.

On Saturday, we had rain, hail, snow, rain hail again then bright sunshine. not saying it was pleasant but better than sitting at home.

Exactly this.

I've paid for Woodhall, so if it rains next weekend, I'll play, but otherwise, it's too much faff trying to keep your clubs, gloves, towels (to dry clubs and hands) etc dry. I did it for the second round of our club championships last year. I was out there for over 5 hours and it was solid heavy rain from start to finish. Least fun ever.

I don't mind a bit of a breeze; I don't mind a bit of rain; I'm definitely not keen on lots of wind and rain. Just where the boundary lies between a 'great experience' and 'thanks but no thanks' depends on the course, the company and the cost! Proper waterproofs work but brollies are real a pain!

Today was not all that bad - couple of sharp showers that waterproofs coped with perfectly.

Yep il play in it because if i have a medal or a club comp & its raining or comes raining il have to play in it , no point doing all your practice in the good weather when the big comps could be wet & you wont be use to it .. if it lashing out of the heavens & blowing a gale now id have to give it a second thought or 4

I played 36 holes in non stop, constant rain and wind at Saunton on Easter Monday. Half the field din't go out in the afternoon. I was totally drenched even wearing GG waterproofs. The problem is that over 2 rounds, you start to get cold when you get wet then the muscles stop working properly.

It was no fun at all, if it hadn't been an Open competition that I'd paid £48 for plus a night in hotel then I wouldn't have teed off.

I grew up in the north of Ireland and you'd never go long without rain of some description.

I dont mind playing in it as long as its not blowing a gale. If its steady rain with no wind I quite like it as I feel I have an advantage over others who don't like playing in it.

The weather down here can be Mediterranean at times in comparison to what I grew up with :)

I played today in the rain too. The rain was not so bad though, it was the wind! As I'm new to the game, this was a whole new experience and I struggled to say the least. Had a great laugh with my mates though and we pretty much had the course to ourselves! Will probably be my last game in a while now as my wife is due to give birth to our 1st child on May 1st.

I turned up to play today and it was lashing down. The vets were coming in at the end of their match and were like drowned rats - no I decided to go to the range instead

played in the peeing down rain and howling wind today.......I was the only one in our swindle of 9 that entered the medal........managed to keep a double bogey off the card but way too many bogies and ended up 5 over H/C.....putted really well but nothing dropped.......still enjoyed it though.......love playing in the rain..........

Doesnt really bother me, I have various rain/windproof tops and trousers (not a suit) that do the job pretty well. the main thing though is the MacWet golves, dont need to bother with keeping stuff dry as you just keep them on!

Love em.....

Living and playing in Glasgow, so wet golf comes with the territory apart from a couple of weeks on July (?)

Good waterproofs, a brolly, towel and wet weather gloves and off ye go

Played St Andrews Fairmont last year and the wind & rain was coming in sideways for front 9. We stuck with it, sun came out and finished last 3 holes in short sleeves....a great day of golf !!

It's an outside sport, and up here rain is always a possibility. I call it quits when puddkes form on greens though

Played the Monthly Stableford with Fragger today...

My words to him when I got there were - "And we're doing this because....?"
Weather was horrific.
A few spells of dry but most of the back 9 it was torrential.
If Fragger hadn't had a good front 9 I'd have been quite happy walking in......

Same as this for me too.
