I've just had my appendix out, wanting to know if anyone else has had this done and how long before I can expect to start playing again? Thanks

I doubt many courses will accept those gown things within their dress code rules so you'll have to wait a wee while anyway

Get well soon

1. Take gentle little swings with a putter to get the feel of things.
2. Gradually move on to little half swings with wedges.
3. Move on to 3/4 swings with wedges.
4. Half swings with woods.
5. Full swings with woods.
6. Avoid HowdidIdo.

;)

Keyhole will always speed up the recovery time, but you do need to ask the doc that question.
I'd hazard a guess at 6 weeks, would poss be 3 months if you had had the full monty.

Hey more Uni time 👍👍

Get better soon buddy

Sorry to hear about your OP - if it's keyhole then possibly a month to start general swinging ?

Girl at the hockey club had hers out 3 weeks ago - started training again after 2 weeks and played first game back yesterday

Ok, but Hockey is different to golf, hockey girl is likely to be generally fitter with a more defined muscle girdle,
Also in hockey you don't do a complete follow through which will stretch those muscles more

Different games, same advice, Ask The Doc

If anything the stress on the lower body will be more than in golf and certainly do have complete follow through when dragging , slapping and hitting - the body will still need to heal and when it comes to appendix especially with keyhole the scaring isnt massive and would be very very surprised if need more than a month without swinging - certainly not 3 months - but just my opinion.

Looks like a hockey skirt will speed recovery.

When I had mine done I got a nasty abscess on the wound, which knocked things back a bit. Was back playing in 2 months.

Get well soon.

I wish you a speedy recovery

I think you need to ask the surgeon on your follow up visit and also your own body will tell you. I had hip replacements a little while back and played 9 holes after 3 weeks with the first one with no ill effects and took the decision that I felt ok to try it. On the left one I was 5 weeks as my weight finished on that side and I was slightly less happy about the damage I might do. I wouldn't have attempted to play until I felt ok to do so and after a very very gentle practice at the range first

Good luck!

I had an op earlier in the year, when then doc asked if I had any questions about it, first one was how soon can i play golf again!
