New this year CONGU has asked that seven consecutive 0.1's back should lead to players being considered for getting a shot back.
How is your Club handling this?
I heard the other day of a Club automatically giving a shot to all getting 7 x 0.1's..... gonna be a lot of h/cap yo-yoing, me thinks.

Hoping this is true, I'll be off 21 come October the way I'm playing

I made buffer 3 comps ago.

we haven't had anyone get seven straight 0.1s back yet this year, I will have a check to see if anyone is recommended to go up.

I know I should be off 25 but I reckon if I give myself 15 shots back I may raise a few eyebrows.

The software is set to give a monthly review of those who've received 7 or more consecutive 0.1's & as I understand it, it's for the consideration of the H/cap committee whether they offer a shot back, certainly shouldn't be automatic.
This season I had sixteen 0,1's back after a 1.7 cut, 0.5 of which was an ESR following an earlier 0.8 cut... so its going to take a wee while to adjust to a lower H/cap..... I turned down the offer of a shot & am now back on track with a recent wee cut & 2 buffers of late.
We gave 2 shots to guy who also has a health consideration as well (he didn't raise it).... he went from 18 to 20......two comps later he comes second with a good score & gets a 1.5 cut..... makes you wonder what others will think of it really, if it becomes too prolific.

Can't imagine that many Scottish clubs will institute this, we don't apply ESR so not much reason to do so for the opposite IMO.
Dead right Grieg, Ive had more than that this year already, not a chance they will give me a shot back:)

Ive a friend who's handicap went from 6 to 11, all 0.1's and no mention of it. he even spoke to the HS and nothing was done.

Do you actually have an option...??
Just thought h/c sec would act if flagged up....

This is obviously based on the assumption that you should play to your handicap or at least buffer 3 from 10 rounds or quite simply your handicap is not a reflection of how your currently playing, I believe it's only an advisory notice/flag and not something that is enforceable without consultation, which is the right way to address it IMO.

I cannot agree with that. The Handicap Committee is mandated to apply the handicap system. The player is not consulted before applying ESR so there is no reason to consult before applying CRI.

I have in the last two months applied changes to HC based on the Continious Increase Review ( seven .1s ) and there was no requirement to speak to the people affected before hand - some did question the increase after

So are you saying that both an ESR & CRI are mandatory and both should be applied without exception.

Are you both just giving an increase for 7 x consecutive 0.1s back?

I am sure it was review and only increase if necessary. Some people will be doing the 0.1s back for fun and just building handicaps in order at some clubs if this is the case.

Nah I'm also looking at previous results to that , how much past buffer plus any injuries or circumstances

One thing that really annoys me about CONGU is that it doesn't matter if you miss buffer by one (which happened to me lots of times last year) or 100. You still get an automatic 0.1 increase. One of my senior friends who is a bit of a bandit anyway, got given an extra shot on his handicap after he missed 7 buffers in a row in general club competitions, some of which were played off the blue championship blue tees (not really suitable for senior players)! Surely some sort of score averaging system such as USGA or EGA would be fairer.
