I've not played there for a few months and was really surprised at how good condition it was in. The greens, albeit a little slow, were in top condition.

Met a couple of guys on the first tee and strolled round gassing about equipment (they were fascinated by my home built clubs), golf, life and all that jazz. Top day out!

I like the new astroturf tees off the whites. They're that lovely soft fluffy stuff just like a good fairway lie. Made it much more playable.

I hit the ball really well considering I've not played in an age. Had one birdie and half a dozen more that just shaved the hole.

Parmo, we'll have to meet up for a knock sometime soon, mate. You can show me the local knowledge.

Glad you enjoyed yourself. I am off work for the next two weeks so free when you are.

I am not too keen on the new style matts, the main bad point is that if you catch it the slightest fat it throws you off, but apart from that they are far better than hard matts.

The greens are very slow for this time of year and need rolling and cutting down, but will they do it? No so gotta use what we have.

That bloody 9th is the one hole I hate at the moment, no matter what I do I end up in the woods. Played a comp on Sunday with a fella who got an eagle from 220 yards on the 4th!!!

I love the 9th at the moment. Hit glorious 3 woods into the wind both times and pitched up to 6 and 8 feet. Shaved the hole with both putts though.

An eagle on the forth! That's a rare bird. I was happy with a 5 after an average drive and great 21* hybrid that just went through the back. Dodgy chip though down to greens being so slow. The only hole I screwed up was the 5th when I quite insanely hit driver and carved it way right. 3 off the tee and a missed short putt meant a 7 on a really easy hole. That's golf!

I'm only free with a car on Tuesdays so how about next Tuesday about half 9? Is that too early?

Next Tues is fine @ 0930, will book it this week.

Strange you played today I was meant to be going up today and having a round on my own but thought it was going to rain so stayed in.

Is this hole still ruining folks games? When I played Roundhay in the NAPGC, the only way to play this hole was with a arrow straight drive between two "copses", as I remember it.
I was 4 over after 8 and then "bam"....7 over after 9.
9 over after 17 and then 11 over after 18......

Got beat by one shot......

Still haunts me to this day. I hate holes that don't allow you to hit your natural shot.......(I was drawing about 20 yards in those days)..... :)

The way to play it is to hit a 3 wood straight over the top. You've only got to clear the tree line and it's a pitch in. That narrow band is even more narrow now the trees are growing.

Parmo, consider it a date (no flowers though) ;)

The thing is, if you hit a drive, 3 wood or whatever straight as an arrow then you are fine, but if you have a fade or draw its a tough one and the gap between the copse of trees at the top is only a matter of yards.

Was up today and they have cut the greensso they have speeded up which is good.

Exactly....it gets my goat...... :D
