Thought that they might cancel it due to the amount of rain we had on Saturday. But it went ahead.

As a bit of fun it was a bit of a laugh. Windy and raining didn't help, but we had fireworks going off all around us, which made you feel like you were in the middle of Beruit!

The balls were rock solid, and we were only allowed 5 clubs. Judging distances was difficult, as all but 2 of the holes (we played 9) were on the second course, which we don't play very often. Reading greens, well forget it, if you 2 putted you were doing well. What with the weather and the good company, and banter, it felt more like the old days of my offshore racing in the middle of the night in the middle of the Channel.

All in all good fun, as long as you don't take it too seriously, and enjoy it for what it is.

Came joint first and finished second on countback as a team.

We'll probably do it again, just to go out and win it having got so close this year. (What was that about not taking it too seriously!!)

I have played this in November before, and it is great fun. Last time I played it I had Cleveland irons in gunmetal, so the heads were black. Couldn't tell if the face was open or closed, and an Odyssey DFX black putter. Plan ahead.

We were taking about resurrecting the night golf challenge last Friday. For anyone who hasn't tried it, you need to play in the right mind set (it isn't meant to be serious), and it is huge fun (also, you only play a few holes (5 for us), not the full 18, which would take forever). Last time my mate fell into a bunker we didn't even know was there. Brilliant, still makes me laugh.

9 holes was more than enough given the weather that we had. The shotgun start really helped in getting everyone around quickly. Though we did have a bit of a long trek to our start. It's strange to walk around the course in a different direction and order of holes than you're used to.

Seeing if the face was closed or open was an issue, but I found that a red lighted head torch did the trick. We also were allowed free drops out of bunkers, though trying to repair divots and pitch marks was a nightmare!

Any sort of torch is cheating in my book, it means you don't run the risk of falling down a rabbit hole, which isn't fun for you, but you have to think about your playing partners entertainment.

I love night golf. Especially if it is cloudy, with no moon.
