Yesterday was our companys small Corporate day where some of our american and european customers got to come over for the weekend and sample some courses and the Irish open.
I played yesterday at Ardglass and after the recent wet (read: could have drowned a duck) I was a little unsure whether the course would even be open. Arrived down into Ardglass to find the place covered in thick fog and a course inspection due any minute. Bill Murray from of the Ghostbusters, Scrooged fame etc had just went out in front of us (not that we could see him as the fog was limiting visibility to around 40-50 yards coming in from the sea.
We decided to have a bit of lunch first then head out. This was the second tee, a slight breeze started coming in from the sea on the left.
By the time we got to the 5th hole, the fog was blowing inland with wind picking up to around 10-15mph, at least we could see what we were supposed to be hitting towards..
By the time we got to the turn, the course was bathed in glorious sunshine though the wind had picked up to at least 25-30mph turning mid iron par 3's into raging 3 irons and woods for the shorter hitters. The 12th hole being almost unreachable (below)
Again, for anyone who is visiting this neck of the woods, Ardglass is a must. The two guys from Pennsylvania I played with couldnt believe how scenic and well conditioned the course was especially with the amount of rain the UK&Ire had dumped on it this past fortnight and promised to come back.
