It's shocking and also amazing that some people have survived it. The footage of a baby/toddler being pulled out alive broke me completely and I sat at my desk with tears in my eyes. Since having a daughter a couple of years ago I've become an emotional wreck when seeing stuff like that.

Most are new planes so maybe its down to training methods use , not just pilots but all the rest , I would not fly with them at the min .

I read earlier that a father moved his wife and 2 year old kid (probably the one I saw on tv being pulled out) to the right hand side seats of the plane as the engine on he left sounded odd. Saved their lives by all accounts.

Why????
Could have been any number of things that bought it down.
Bird strike, wind sheer, pilot had a Connery.
Don't jump to conclusions mate.

Rumour has it it was both engine failures.

I heard that. Pilot already on flight recorder as saying one engine had a catastrophic error and seemingly the second went. You can see by the angle it crossed the bridge the thing had no propulsion. It isn't the first crash with this make of aircraft

Read today that one of the engine's failed and the captain shut down the wrong engine obviously don't know if its true but if it is what a mistake to make

Yup I read the same and the first thing I thought was how the same happened at East midands/kegworth.

I've heard subsequently that he deliberate banked the aircraft away from the flats and built up area and aimed for the river, if that becomes true, the guy wants a medal because had that gone into all those flats and dense built up area it would have been a mass loss of life on the ground and everyone in the aircraft!

This happens more than you would think. We lost one of our squadron helo' s when the good engine was turned off after the other one had failed. It was at night and at sea and unfortunately both aircrew died when the aircraft ditched.

Having flown a couple of hundreds of hours in the same aircraft type as a passenger I can see why it would be an easy mistake to make in the heat of the moment. Especially in the dark.

Obviously as a non pilot I wasn't judging him because I have no understanding of what he did or went though, but if it is something that is easy to do an easy mistake to make, it has to be made harder a lot harder.
