Im doing some research into pitching wedge lofts as I am looking at buying a new set of clubs in march.

My current pitching wedge is 45 degree loft with then a gap at 50 and then sand 54 and 58 lob.. works perfect

the titliest 716 AP1 really caught my eye suppose to be very forgiving however their pitching wedge is 43 degree loft?! what is up with this... is 43 degree to 50 too much to live with? Im not changing my gap wedge its one of my newest clubs and im very happy with it. I have checked out the AP2s but they arent as forgiving

do I stick with a 45 degree pitching wedge, get the 43 degree and live with it or have it bent to 44 degree to make it less of a gap

My PW is 46 and I've a 52 and 58 and so I nice even spread. I would be tempted to go 46, 50, 54 and 58 but not sure where I'd drop another club to accommodate all these wedges.

For years I played with 45 degree PW, 54 sand wedge and 58 lob wedge.. before I discovered the gap wedge which has really changed my game for the better.. sometimes I drop the lob wedge if I want to keep to 3 wedges

gap is now my favourite club

You can also get a 716 AP1 Gap Wedge 47 degree and a 716 AP1 Attack Wedge 52 degree.

Obviously they come in same spec as rest of AP1's shafts etc

I have the 714 Ap1s. The PW is 44 in my set so they must have strengthened it.
My next wedge is 48 degree then 54 and 58. That seems to work for me, although it may depend on where you play as well

If you're buying new, can you not specify that you want a 45 degree PW?

FWIW, my PW is 47 degrees and my next wedge is 52.

this is what im thinking, maybe get it bent to 44 or 45 degree or something

the AP2s have much better lofts but they arent for high handicappers its odd!

Im not changing my Gap wedge for a long time I just bought it about 2 months ago! the irons are 4 years old so need an upgrade.. I got a gap 2 months ago and changed my game. then last night bought a 54 and 58 wedge so im pretty set for wedges themselves

Seems very low in angle to me normally the average loft of a 9iron is between 45/48 degrees my pitching wedge is 48 degrees and then i have 52/56/ and a 60 degree

I have just checked these out and I think if the 714s are still around in march I will be checking them out rather than the 716s rather than these loft issues

One option would be to change the PW for W and carry a bigger gap between 9 and W.
Which ever way you go, you'll love them😃

What's the problem, buy the gap wedge and drop the longest iron you were going to go with. Who cares what loft clubs are as long as you know how far you hit each one.

Callaway Golf Big bertha steel irons
Titliest AP1 714 irons steel

I will get whatever suits my swing however the AP1 714s are calling me because brand mainly lol

I think you are getting too tied up in the lofts.

Unless you are getting a matching set including wedges ( in which case they will be ready gapped) the only important issue is how they perform in your hands.

Put another way, 43 in that head may perform in a similar way to your existing 45.

There's also the issue of how their 9 iron performs for you too.

Sounds a good idea, I may go for the 714s now though because their Lofts are more comparable to what im used to playing rather than making everything different

be interesting to try them tho

Yep I agree with this. Have you considered a combo set of AP1/AP2's? Something like AP1 down to 7 or 8 iron then AP2 for the rest.

I have no idea what my lofts are, and I don't think there is any way of finding out either. They are what they are. Google is normally pretty good, but I my case, it's useless. It's fun. Whack it, find it. You can make this game way too technical.

My 49 degree gap wedge is bent to 51 though.

I thought a modern PW was up to 48 degrees in loft? I have Ping I25 and the wedge is 46 degrees.

if you have standard TM Speedblade irons then the wedge is 45 degrees of loft. http://www.mygolfspy.com/taylormade-speedblade-irons/

These days the majority of PW lofts are 44/45°
Some are 46 and only a few now are 47
Many GI/SGI are 42/43..
But it's more about distances than lofts

My PW is 45.

All my clubs seem stronger than usual, so my 7 iron actually plays like a 6 iron.
