When I dont have time to get to play golf at my course. I play on the pitch and putt at a course near me..and it got me thinking, is this good practice for a real round?

yea it is good for your short game , i will say tho there is a difference here between par3 & p&p, the P&P are all short holes & can develop a wrist flick rather than a fluent swing ,proper par 3 is good , you get to work on your mid irons aswell ..When I dont have time to get to play golf at my course. Wish I had one localy
I have found that the trouble with my local par 3 course is that, at 95 yds plus, a full swing is required on every hole. You only get to practice short-game shots from within the c.15-75 yard scoring zone if you miss the green by miles.

Come down to my place Al - we have a lovely little par 3 course. Longest hole 97 yards.

You don't have to play every hole from the tee though. My course has a great 12 hole par 3 attached and if I want to put my short game to the test I can think of all sorts of places to drop a few balls and try different escapes from.
