Last year I bought a wooden headed Ping Zing driver from a charity shop for £5. Steel shaft.
i bought it with the intention of having a round during the winter with it. Anyway, Tuesday I went on the driving range with it and after hitting the first ball I thought I had broke my wrists. Don't get me wrong, It went well but flippin Eck. Anyway I hit a dozen more and the last three balls I hit really well and they had "draw" on them. Something I cannot do, naturally. but flippin Eck my wrists.

Anyway, re the club, was it designed for the softer balata balls or what. It just did not feel it was a right balance between club and ball. Was/is that the case? If I was to use the club on the course would I need a softer ball.

Does it have an extra stiff shaft or something, as that could make the impact feel harsh? Range balls are not the best btw! :(

Just stole an eye 2 from the same era, an imaculate classic. Not hit it yet though

That ping eye two is identical to the same ping eye 2 7 woodI have serial number061432.

i was going to take that but it looked massively "toed in" when I put it at the side of the ping zing. What was suprise get was the size of the face on the ping zing, would love to know what the size of the face is. Re shaft, the sticker on it says "Karsten UK ltd" Corringham rd Gainsborough, Lincs.DN211XZ. (ping HQin England), then it says KT-M. Lord knows what that means.
I have another wooden headed club which is a MacGregor MT oil hardened.😁

I "inherited" a driver, 3 and 5 wood just like that Ping. Took them up to the driving range once and the pro was drooling over them, reckoned they were about 35 years old!

He had a hit with the driver, it went well but he reckoned it would be 40-50 yards shorter than a modern driver.

They are in good nick. Would they be worth any money as collectables?

Those old Pings used to be quite the thing, complete with a strangely bulbous head and a fishing rod shaft that you had to wait for at the top. I think they should be fine with modern balls, so long as you avoid the real rocks of distance balls. I can't see how you will keep up with a well fitted modern driver, but your choice.
