i'm looking at getting my first set of ping irons (i20's) at the moment my irons have dg s300 shafts. ping charge extra for these. my question is, is the stock shaft any good? i am going for a fitting so i'll buy whats best..........just curious.

I think it's a very personal thing, I know some people that have found manufacturers own shafts to be perfect for them, and others have had to spend much much more on custom shafts.

The stock shaft in the i20 iron is the Ping CFS shaft, which is a lightweight shaft, 109g in stiff. I don't know what the underlying shaft is like, but I would assume that it is a bit softer and perhaps more tip-responsive than TT DGS300, i.e. more flexible and higher launch.

The recommended flexes are shown here: http://www.ping.com/shafts/ironshafts.aspx?id=11382

You can try Pings online shaft fitting system: http://www.ping.com/fitting/webfit.aspx
