On Golfwrx, the general consensus seems to be that this is real. Photos originally posted by a retailer who broke the embargo. They have now been taken off, but not before others got hold of them and posted them elsewhere. One poster who appears to work in retail said "Look for the press release on July 3, demos in your local shop around the 10th, and the release to be in late July." Not sure if that is US or worldwide release dates.

They are not lines. They are raised fins called turbulators. Apparently some aerodynamic benefit.

Not convinced. Ping if anything are notorious for not being that "whacky" in their design. The G25 is in its second year now so I guess it would be a 24 month cycle which sits with their policy.
