Ping eye 2

Hi all.

Im just interested. I have a set of Ping eyes 2 and am interested in what peoples thoughts are about them?

I not sure but just feel that they may not be for me anymore. Im by no means anywhere near pro but they feel quite heavy for me when I take shot with them (if that makes sense). Anyone experienced similar? is it maybe time to change?

They are quite heavy clunky clubs. In their day they were a world ahead of must other clubs as I understand.

There are still a lot of people using them, so you are certainly not alone.

I think a former forumer that returned to his old hobby of cycling used them. He was a very low h'capper.

If you think that they're 'heavy' for you, then that's okay. I believe, as another has already said, that they were generation defining clubs in there day.

Try some other kit and see what you like.

I used to play the Ping Eye 2's and they were great, however I decided to change to a set of TaylorMade R7 irons at the start of last year. The R7's are less heavy, and a notably longer than the Eye 2's, but this could be due to the huge differences in loft..... So a Ping 7 iron is equivalent to the R7 9 iron or pitching wedge. :S

In terms of forgiveness I would rate the 2 equally as highly, but personally I feel that the change of irons has been beneficial to my game, especially with the custom fit options available with new sets.

The Eye2's are an iconic set of Clubs, and still very well played and sought after.
I played with Zing2's for many years, and they too were quite heavy and powerful clubs.

I changed to Titleist AP2's last Sept, and it took me quite a while to get used to them, I was a lot shorter with them for a while, but that seems to have levelled now.

Are the AP's better ? I dont know, but after my H/C has come down 2 shots this year with them, they must be doing something well.

The Eye2's are still good clubs tho.

not so long ago, when I got my PW repaired, the club maker who did the job told me that there is very little difference in the weights of club heads, then proved it by taking the 7-i heads from a dozen sets and weighing them all - no more than 2 gr difference irrespective of make, cast or forged, cavity or blade.

maybe it's a combination of shaft and swing weight that makes them feel heavy. that said it would probably be cheaper to replace them than to fit them.

I look at other golfers when on the course and feel that I dont get too much height from shots taken. Im no Paul Casey by any means but feel that the iron shots are supposedly my strength and think that even with a6/7 iron they seem low and punched rather than a nice arc.
